It's raining this morning, but it going to clear up and be sunny for music practice this afternoon.
A couple weeks ago, at the cabin, a very large basswood tree fell across the dock and I didn't think it would be possible to remove it untill the lake was frozen.
Friday my Daughter, SIL, 3 grandkids and a friend of my grandson arrived at the cabin. At noon on Sunday the tree had been removed from the dock, cut up and hauled Way. And, the steps that had been torn up where the tree roots pulled out of the ground, had all been rebuilt!
I'd forgotten how much energy I don't have after watching everyone work.

(Onion News) -- According to a new report released Friday by the National Association of Realtors, more young American adults are becoming homeowners by renting a house or apartment on Airbnb and then changing the locks. “Though millennials had to endure the Great Recession and are now faced with soaring housing costs, many have found they can still own their own home by booking temporary lodging online and then hiring a locksmith who doesn’t ask any questions,” said real estate broker Betty Rapien, describing how the generation now in its late 20s and 30s is forgoing traditional avenues of homeownership and taking the more modern approach of moving all their stuff into an Airbnb and simply ignoring anyone who bangs on the door asking them to leave. “Though prices are high and mortgage rates are rising, young adults are finding that with just a little planning and resourcefulness, they can save up enough cash to cover one night in a vacation rental plus the $300 or so needed to rekey the doors to their new home. Considering how many beautiful houses on Vrbo and Airbnb can be accessed for as little as $150, it’s really a taker’s market right now.” Rapien, 35, added that once she paid off her student loans, she herself hoped to scrape together the $700 needed to move her family into a Victorian townhouse in San Francisco’s Mission District.

Assorted chores. Shop work, infrastructure stuff, and a doctor visit for the wife will fill the day.
Bill somehow the hijacking Airbnbs scheme seems to have some sustainability issues possibly ending in a new home with locks that work in reverse.

It will probably hit 95 today and humidity is currently at 60% - not good for my decreasing ability to deal with heat. I have dropped about 23 pounds in the last 3 months, but I guess I still have too much built-in insulation.

After spending all last week in the great north woods of Wisconsin (and getting chastised by Bill for deriding "Polka Mass" at the local church), we are back home just in time for me to call in this evening and check to see if I have to appear for jury duty.
In our county, they send you a notice, you go online and fill out a questionnaire, and then you have to call in on Monday evening each week of the month to see if you need to appear the next day or not. In this case, because of July 4th, I did not have to call in last Monday. So I get to clear my required month in only three weeks. The last time I was called up, I didn't have to appear for anything, just called in every Monday. I'm hoping for a slow judicial calendar here in Iowa county again this month.
Unfortunately, with the crazy workday I'm putting in today, I won't have the energy to go and see Castle Ridge perform this evening in Coralville, but I hear they are playing in Amana soon, so I should be able to make that.

Just read about 2 weeks ago that 85 is warm enough that we don’t shed heat without active cooling methods. My last fm gig I ended up woozy and dehydrated. Will be watching out now rehydrating earl and aggressively.

On route 5 Christian and Jesus live together in a house on Palestine Lake. On route 3 the Auers live on 550S. The mail that goes there is addressed to "Happy Auer". I delivered a box to Linda Blair on route 23 yesterday. It was a head-turning experience. I overran the driveway.

I can’t believe how attached my wife and I get to these characters. Oh, I don’t have to report for jury duty this week, so I can watch it tonight!

I love the Longmire novels. They are faithfully reproduced by the TV show. I recommend the novels even after watching the show. It is fun to see how well the characters reproduce the TV experience and vice versa.

Have really enjoyed it. I think I might drop Netflix after it finishes. Mubi is tempting me now. If you haven't seen it watch Longmire before you drop it. It's not on UK Netflix. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll mentally file the name in case it appears elsewhere. I remember looking for it before and discovering Brockmire by accident. That amused and entertained me for a while. A comedy series with Hank Azaria as a baseball commentator who has had a fall from grace.

If you have a “record” function on your TV hookup, you don’t need Netflix. Of course these are the final 6 episodes in a 6 season series.
