Good morning. I took a walk in the mountain preserve for about 45 minutes a while ago. It's cooler there due to the lack of pavement. Very pleasant.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning. My dog's surgery went fine. She is chipper today and banging her head cone on everything.

Terry, if you haven't read it already, you might enjoy 'French Revolutions, Cycling the Tour de France' by Tim Moore. It's a fun read.

I kicked butt at the Doc's yesterday.
I knew my A1C would be better as I had run a few home tests, and it was, 5.7. Well lower than the 6.2 reading last July. My glucose was 99.
I was hoping for an improvement with the cholesterol results, as well, however I was a little apprehensive due a run of ribeyes this last month. But, I hammered those scores, as well. Total cholesterol was down to 158 (180 a year and a half ago) and HDL was up to 41 (37 a year and a half ago) with a C/H ratio of 3.9. And Trigs were down to 134 (from 172). (and those now high readings from a year and a half ago were an improvement from three years ago)
Anyway, for me, and for where I was (and have been), those cholesterol readings were pretty darn good news. I celebrated by grilling a nice 20 oz ribeye (but I skipped the potato salad and went with a nice Caeser salad instead).

* results achieved with help from medication. I am on Losartan htcz, Simvastatin, and Metformin (time released, take once in the evening)
the more I learn about Metformin, I would be tempted to take it even if I didn't need it, which I may not if I keep losing the way extra weight.

Just back from a 24 mi bike ride. There were a lot of people out on the trail today, many getting ready for RAGBRAI. Everyone was in a very talkative mood today, so rest stops turned into lengthy visits.
I'm planning to get my second COVID booster and get the lawn mowed this afternoon.

Ken, I sympathize with you on old age and teeth. I've been going through the Invisalign process on my upper teeth for 6 months. Next week I finally get a lower tooth pulled. Then wire braces to close the resulting gap. A very long process to try to save as many teeth as possible.
Today Mr. H and I are going to get the emissions test for the truck. Glad we were able to get the A/C fixed before this. We have to get the test every year because of the GVW. And the testing site that we went to last year doesn't do heavy duty trucks anymore, so it's a drive across town. Waiting until just a little later for the traffic to die down and the wait time to decrease.
Did our walk in "The Bosque." It's really Mesquite Wash, but few people call it that. No concrete and still damp from yesterday's two-tenths of an inch of rain.

Great news, epaul. Getting a good medical report is like getting a reprieve from the governor.

So much for getting my denture work done today, dentist called in sick with covid. I got bumped to August 2nd. Life in 2022.....
Great job Paul. I know that losing all my extra weight has a huge difference in my daily life, physically and mentally. Good stuff!

This is the beginning of my day. I'm finally awake - my brain cobwebs. My writing can be actually a collaboration.
I have enormous respect, thankful, kindness and changed many lives. I have new wonderful people now. They can help me including in equality. I am intimate. I have to be vigilant in my foundation and my sanctuary
As to the philosophy: My life is a spiritual journey and for me spiritual energy is as real as food, water and air. Everything is intertwined. Nothing separate. And for me, the aspect of surrender a way to talk about surrendering the mad hold that our egos have on our hearts and minds.
Ego is a construct. It's a made up thing that helps us function but also if we take it too seriously it gets in the way of a peaceful, heartfelt, kind life. For me, holding onto this notion that I have a fixed ego that knows exactly what is right/wrong/good/bad is not a source of wellbeing. My letting that go and practicing kindness and cultivating gratitude is what matters. It has been known to say, "Kindness is my religion." With this I wholeheartedly agree.
Enjoy your days.

Went to a free concert last night. Little River Band outdoors in Elk Groce IL. It’s really a LRB cover band, because no original members are still in it. It’s a local festival thing. A bunch of friend went. Easily 5,000 in attendance. The stage is in the parking lot of a local shopping center. I noticed police stationed on the roof of a nearby building. Also there was a drone (police I’m guessing) patrolling over the crowd.
Life in the modern world.
Concert was good.

Metformin does a great job for weight loss by making you nauseous 24/7. (my experience, and it otherwise does a great job for non insulin dependent diabetics and overweight patients who don't mind the minor, but persistent nausea.)

Lucky you. It was such a punishment for doing the right thing.

Metformin could have just as well have been water, or just filled with air, for all I could tell. No reaction or indication of anything. Same with my other meds, no reactions, sensations, tells, nothing. Well, other than that third nipple. That was a little disconcerting at first. Not sure which pill was responsible for that little guy, but I've gotten used to it. No big deal.
