So, started on a new book series, and doing the world building, writing a serial story to do so. It's about that thin layer between our world and the supernatural. Decided that this go around, I wasn't going to stick to straight acoustic instruments, and I wanted some harmony vocals. So this one has acoustic, electric bass, synth, drums and percussion, played by me. I also do background harmonies, and my buddy Tony did some low harmonies. Pretty happy with how this turned out, both the music and the video.

This puts me in mind of Anais Mitchell’s Hadestown musical. I sat with her at breakfast at Swannanoa songwriting camp and listened to her talking informally about putting together a project she had hopes for.

Watched them do Wait For Me at the 2019 Tony’s. Very cool. Going to have to listenn to the whole thing now.

I like it a lot. It’s got a nice beat. Easy to dance to in a Munsters kind of way.

I like it a lot. It’s got a nice beat. Easy to dance to in a Munsters kind of way. The guitar part by itself is pretty syncopated, and the cajon exacerbates it. Tony suggested I put in something simple on the beat, so the percussion bits bring it all together.

I listened/watched earlier this evening, Rick. While I admit that fantasy isn't my favorite genre, I did enjoy what I saw. You've made a historical fiction guy interested in what is coming.

Excellent, Todd, and thanks. I tried to write some historical fantasy when I was younger. It’s hard. Lady in my critique group is an ex-history prof, and she writes both historical fiction and historical fantasy, and the amount of research can get pretty intimidating. The book I came close to selling when I was in my 20s was a historical fantasy based on the life of Attila. The most common comment I got back from publishers? It wasn’t terribly exciting. I count it as a major failure that I wrote a dull book about Attila the Hun.
