Good morning. It'll be less hot here with a high of 96 and monsoonish clouds. We may get some more rain in the next few days.
At 7:45 the search committee I'm on at church will begin interviewing candidates for rector. At this point the candidates will appear via Zoom but the committee will assemble in person. Later we'll bring out finalists for live interviews. It should be interesting.
My prolonged period of masking and such because of my wife's recent Covid comes to an end today. I tested this morning (negative) just to be on the safe side before I join a meeting with a number of other people.
All's well. Wish I were at Ijam. Enjoy your day.

Only supposed to be 92 here in Tucson, with a 60% chance of showers. Last night's dinner with a group from our HOA brought out 18 of us and a good time was had by all. I played hooky from choir practice and didn't make up an excuse. Told the director where I would be and that I really needed to socialize.
Yesterday I called 4 pharmacies near us and nobody had the new Omicron-specific vaccines yet. So today we plan to head over to one of the county clinic locations. If that doesn't kill us, we'll stop for groceries and a prescription on the way home.

56 overnight so there is a heavy dew. I love those nighttime 50s.
Best wishes to all the Ijammers who are on the way or have already arrived.

Good morning.
65F-74F cloudy, periods of rain.
Shop time, errands and house chores. Just not sure in what order yet.
How was the Party at Paleo's last night?

Morning, peoples. Safe journey for those on the road.
I'll stop by my 96 YO mom this afternoon. Now that the Queen kicked the bucket, I want to make sure Mom is doing well mentally about it.

Packing up and heading home today. Supposed to be hot and windy, enough so that the electric company may have to shut off electricity so lines don’t start fires. We will see.

Same place. As a once-upon-a-time boy scout, some of the rope work--spices, whipping the ends--seem pretty cool. This one's dark on the right side, will try to fix that at some point. The white spots there are posts for the wiring (I think it's called post and tube).

Had some bad luck heading back from the farm last night, but not as bad luck as the deer I hit had. I'm in one piece, he's in two. And my IJam plans went down the toilet. The Sorento has a dented hood and fender, no lights, turn signals, or driver side mirror. And the Scion is in Fargo with Gus.
I had been thinking about getting new lights anyway, the lens were getting a little frosty and the polishing returns were diminishing, so there is that. (the cost difference between new headlights and my comp deductible is pretty much a wash)

Rob, especially, since this kills the idea of you two doing a trombone duet. Be well.

Epaul, Sorry for your adventure, but I am glad you are okay. My son and I had a similar run-in with a deer a few years ago, and I still have one clear lens and one frosty one on my rig.
Slow day here in Beaverton. As Mike mentioned, our power companies will be shutting off electricity for folks in areas around us. Dry conditions, anticipated sustained high winds, and existing uncontrolled fires are the ingredients.

Feeling heartbroken over the condition of the deer and ePaul’s Kia, and more so because ePaul really wanted to do a banjo and trombone duet. Glad that ePaul is unscathed.
Busy day so far. Walked a lap around a restored tallgrass prairie, paid my respects to Herbert Hoover, and consumed bacon, waffles, and excellent coffee at FactoryChef’s. About to meet up with Todd to rehearse and tinker with guitars

Mailed a birthday card. Did the walk-in county clinic and had to wait an hour to get our jabs. Then another 25 minutes before we got our vaccination cards. Got gas, a prescription, and groceries. Groceries have just been put away and I need a nap. Just tired, not a result of the jab. Hoping I don't develop chills and fever like last time, but I'm prepared.

When full it was heated up and filtered into a canning jar and that was used for cooking. Cooking oil and butter cost money and in some cases pork fat was better. We weren't poor but it was a habit she learned growing up in the 30s.

We collect the bacon drippings mostly to control how we dispose of it. But I drain the bacon on paper towels. I save the towels to light briquets in a charcoal chimney. Crumple them up with a sheet of newspaper. Works great.
