Good morning.
58F-80F mostly sunny.
Got a few productive hours in the shop yesterday and a long nap. Will try to do the same today.
Meeting a few friends that I haven't seen in many years at Cabin 61 this afternoon. Bill you probably won't know anyone but you are invited 4:00.

Dangerously close to the mid-point.
Casper and I are off to my brother's lake cabin to check on the ducks.

Good morning. We'll have a mild day by mid-September standards, about 75-95. It's very pleasant out right now.
On Monday, I visited Sunset Crater, a national monument north of Flagstaff. It was burned over in a June fire and had been closed until about two weeks ago. It's one of my favorite places and I wanted to see what was left. There's a lot left. Many of the trees were untouched. Many had been partly burned. I chatted with a ranger about what would happen to the partly burned trees. She said that thirty years ago, they would have bounced back. Now the partly burned trees will probably die. Our long-running drought (about 25 years) had the trees under great stress before the fire arrived. Higher temperatures have added to their problems. So it's kind of like Covid getting someone who had a lot of health problems to begin with. That news was sad but the place is still in far better shape than I expected.
On Tuesday, I had planned to be in the San Francisco peaks at dawn. But at dawn the peaks were completely socked in by clouds and a steady rain was falling. Water and camera gear don't get along. I shifted to plan B and drove south about 45 minutes to another favorite place, a tree-lined creek.
Various chores await today. Making a tax payment is one. All's well and I hope you all enjoy the day.

I had my first two hour Zoom meeting of the year today. I was quickly reminded of how much I don't miss them.

Slow news day in Beaverton. The weather is perfect, with a low of 52 and a high of 74.
Shots for dogs at the vet's office this p.m.

What's Todd doing in my office? Heh. That’s the image Todd posted back in 2020 when the subject of Zoom backgrounds came up.

Needed more sour cream, though, but I added that and some cracked black pepper and now everything is up to spec.
