There is a goose on the pond I am going to hunt down and kill. He/she/it started braying like a donkey at 4 AM. Geese look alike so I don’t know which one it was. They should all go back to Canada. Troublemakers.
Anyway, there is a bowl of Cheerios calling my name.
Hang loose, just not like a goose.

Good morning
66F-81F partly cloudy.
Saturday shop and errands.
1 cherry bomb should do the job. Put a weight on it so it sinks, your neighbors will hardly hear it, but the geese will freak out and leave.

Good Saturday Morning
Partly cloudy, a little muggy. Stepping outside in a few minutes to admire our new driveway. Gotta admire it 'cuz it was so expensive, precluding some longed-for European travel and other more fun expenditures. The concrete guys finished yesterday and did a remarkable job cleaning up. We can walk on it, but can't drive on it until next Friday.
After replacing some old bricks along the driveway, hanging out with our son and 75% of of granddaughters whilst their Mom works a long shift.

Good morning. I've been weeding but I'm taking a break for breakfast. There are a lot of little things on the to-do list for today, including smoking a chuck roast.
It was 69 in our backyard this morning. That's the first temperature in the 60s since early June.
Enjoy your day.
PS: Today's Wordle was less annoying than yesterday's.

I survived a few days at the cabin without being eaten by a mountain lion, although I had a real scare. Thursday night, about 10:00 pm, I was sitting out by my campfire as the flames died away, leaves a pile of glowing, orange coals.
It was pitch black, save for a little light coming from the cabin's kitchen window. It was then that I heard a twig snap behind me bringing me to full attention. That was not a normal sound. I started to slowly turn my head to see what was behind my when I heard a loud "woof". My heart rate jumped to about 180 as I tried to think of something nearby that I could use as a weapon. My fire stick and an ax seemed to be my options.
As I got my head turned enough to see behind me there was a flurry of motion, barely visible in the darkness, as a large buck deer went running across my lawn.
I went inside and sat in my recliner, contemplating life and death. I had a beer, locked the door and went to bed.

Entering the fourth day with our new adoptocat. By day two, she was settled in. Now she is fully and completely settled in and is lying down next to Casper watching cartoons. Those kids.

The other night I was out walking. As I turned a corner I saw something rushing towards me in my peripheral vision. It turned out to be a cat wanting some love. Kind of scared the shit out of me (it was a big cat, and it was moving quickly).

John, in Bavaria, Oktoberfest starts in September. I was fortunate enough to be at the festival's opening in the late 1970s when an old Navy buddy was working as a spook in Munich. I thought it might not be tied to the month itself, but it still seems a little strange. Maybe spelling it with a K makes all the difference.

Survived our gig in Williamsburg, IA at the Sundown Bar & Grill. Not as much fun as last Friday and Saturday night's festivities, but bluegrass music was made and enjoyed by a lively crowd.
I on the other hand did very little lifting and toting due to my recent colonoscopy. I will enjoy this reprieve while it lasts!
The good news, the nurse called to confirm no cancer was apparent in the biopsy. That agreed with the Doctor's earlier assessment but it was reassuring to hear his diagnosis confirmed. Now for a bit of mandolin practice today. Later this afternoon, Iowa State Football takes on Ohio Bobcats. Have a good day to one and all!!!

Update on my son's car accident. He is fine. The woman who hit him was uninsured (surprise!) and blew a .24 on the breathalyzer, three times the legal limit, at 4:30 in the afternoon! Don't know the extent of her injuries, but like Terry said, she is probably fine, especially since she was able to blow into the breathalyzer.

Speaking of cats, at breakfast my wife and I were discussing the TV shows about dogs we watched as kids. A human would tell Lassie or Rin Tin Tin to go get help. The dogs, who understood English perfectly, would race away to get help. When they found a human they would bark in a way that the human understood perfectly and help would be on its way. We discussed the fact that there had never been a program like that about cats and never would be.
("Tabby! Go get help." Tabby yawns and returns to napping.)

A couple years ago, I lost a Milk-Bone dog biscuit. I said to Casper, "Casper, find the poor lost Milk- Bone dog biscuit." He raced off like Wonder Dog. Then I heard him barking excitedly, his bark told me, clear as a bell that he had found the poor lost biscuit. But, sadly, we had found him too late. Something had happened. All that was left of him were some crumbs. So sad. But, Casper the Wonder Dog did his job. I only wish I had sent him off on the hunt earlier rather than thinking the cat and I could do it by ourselves. I rewarded him with a doggie treat.

Last night I had a nice backyard play and sing session with my neighbor and a couple friends. A great way to end the work week.
Today, the dogs have been fed, coffee consumed, and guitars played. Time for the dog park, then buy and install a battery in my 4Runner.
