Interesting. I just can't relate to the concept that the earth is dying. Our time on the planet is probably numbered. But the planet will go on. Life of some sort will go on. There's water and sunlight that will shine for millions of years yet. The atmosphere will change. Flora and fauna that utilize that energy will come and go. Even if an asteroid hits earth the planet will adjust.
Yes we should be concerned for our own long term health and safety. But the planet will do fine no matter what we do. It'll adjust and move on.

I suppose it's better to rephrase it that we are concerned about our home. And will the earth continue to be a fruitful home for mankind.

Back at work when I was still smoking a woman I worked with always scoffed at us out in the smoke shack by the back door but I told her that 50 years from now neither of us will smell so good. I'm still alive. Don't know about her.

Have you seen some of the recent articles to the effect that martian life may have killed itself--made the planet uninhabitable?

I think it's probably like any other profound life experience. You think you know what it's all about but until you actually go through it you don't have a clue.
