Evan Price posts transcription/performances on Facebook--meticulous reproductions of famous violin tracks. This is his take on the Django-Eddie South recording of "Sweet Georgia Brown," and it's especially interesting to hear the slowed-down "rehearsal" version. (The clean modern recording doesn't hurt, either.) I first heard Price when he was the hot new fiddler for Paul Mehling's Hot Club of San Francisco, and he was already amazing then. www.facebook.com/evanpriceviolin/videos/445672827728116/And here's the 1937 original--which, to my ear, has a bit more Django in the audio mix: And just for fun, Grappelli with Django and the rest of the Hot Club band--I think it swings harder, though I like them both.

I like Django’s version best but they are both great.

Wonderful! Naturally, I brought this to Fiddlerina’s attention. Now all I have to do is play guitar like Django.

My favorite version, by Jim & Bob, the Genial Hawaiians. They are more well-known (to the extent they are known at all) for their Hawaiian guitar songs.
