There's a lot of fine work there. The third-place guy comes closest to my own taste. But that's just taste.

Yes, some very nice stuff. But whomever chose photograph of the year should be shot.

I like black and white more than you do, Marshall, but I'm not a big fan of that one.

Competitions are always a crap shoot. Quite often the "Winner" just reflects the preference of a particular judge.

For several years I was on a panel of judges of photographs by high school students throughout Arizona. One of the other judges was the photo editor at Arizona Highways. The others were all fine photographers. The results were all based on taste and often seemed somewhat arbitrary. How could it be otherwise? I can't take competitions in creative endeavors seriously. I still enter some now and then.
