Overheard at Great Harvest bakery, where I was picking up a couple dozen dinner rolls to bring to my sister's tomorrow:
Customer: "Busy week?"
Baker/counter worker: "We had orders for 800 dozen dinner rolls this year."
They have several Twin Cities locations, so maybe that was the grand total, but still ... I mean, they had loaves of bread to bake, too, and dessert items, etc., etc.

Pumpkin pie is baked. Wild rice for stuffing is cooked. It will be just the two of us tomorrow. We bought a whole turkey, but are limiting the number of other items. I've been making room for leftovers in the freezer for the last couple of weeks. We'll see family in Cave Creek (Phoenix) in early December.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here. Even a possibly lurking Canadian who would have already celebrated.

My work shift ended at 11 ayem today, giving me time to pick up an Rx, the dinner rolls, fuel up the car ($3.39/gal), get some provolone and genoa salami at Morelli's, and then head over to Zakia Deli for their Wednesday special, braised lamb shank, served with a fabulous gravy over rice pilaf, and my usual sides of tabouli, Lebanese salad and pita.
Not a bad way to train for the feast tomorrow.

Yeah, I am a terrible speller. From the Zakia menu: LEBANESE SALAD - Cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, parsley with light olive oil, garlic and lemon dressing.
TABOULI SALAD - Traditional Lebanese salad with finely chopped parsley, diced tomatoes, red onions, burghul, lemon juice and olive oil.

I think, when you head over there, you should inform them that you are a top drawer professional editor and they must correct their offensive misspelling of tabbouleh. On edit: You might want to insist on a free meal to compensate for your professional efforts on their behalf. At least they spelled burghul (bulghur wheat) correctly.

At the Hobo Haus it's spelled "Tadpoli", it is a delicacy served in the spring only.

At the Hobo Haus it's spelled "Tadpoli", it is a delicacy served in the spring only. And swallowed whole. And washed down with a Norwegian Martini -- a pint of tap beer with an olive in it.

Because we don't share an alphabet, there's really no right or wrong spellings for Arabic words. I don't know if those are Arabic, though.

Because we don't share an alphabet, there's really no right or wrong spellings for Arabic words. I don't know if those are Arabic, though. Yes, they would originally be Semitic words of some sort. When the Lebanese say it you can hear the eh at the end of the word. Several generations in, the young ones might not be as particular. I worshiped and socialized with the sizable Lebanese community here for over thirty years and got very accustomed to the way Arabic words are pronounced and spelled. I've eaten and made large amounts of tabbouleh over the years. On edit: And by the way, Lebanese tabbouleh is vastly superior, IMO, to variants from other cultures.

I knew about the Tabouli variant but didn't know Burghul for Bulgur. I've Googled lots and decided not to add Levantine Arabic to my Duolingo account just yet. Wordle 522 3/6*

Condolences Rob. That sort of news sends shivers down my spine, even though I have a backup. Best of luck in recapturing your data.

All the data on my hard drive has disappeared, photos, music, downloads, documents, mail. Windows 10, Chrome, and a few programs are still there. I have what is supposed to be very good antivirus/security software. I am baffled. I'm not expecting help, just commiseration. Oh, MAN! Very sorry, Rob. I know if you had a backup you'd have done restores already. Do you suspect malware?

I know if you had a backup you'd have done restores already. Do you suspect malware? I have a partial backup of some of the files. The pictures are all duplicated on CDs. Most of what was lost was junk. I am not heartbroken like Kate was when her computer and extra hard drives were stolen, losing her wonderful photos. I have highly rated security software. What is so puzzling is what was erased and what wasn't. Not wiped clean or totally trashed. The computer is old enough that I am leery of trying to get it back to a usable state. It may be time for a new box, $500 or so. I know you are an Apple guy but they are too pricey for me. Windows has served me well enough.

In the morning I delivered mail to Dennis Wilson on route 73.
In the evening I delivered mail to Brian Wilson on route 8.
I get around.
