Still holding in the low 50s here. Out for a ride this morning, rain started at my turnaround point--not soaked but pretty wet by the time I got home. 12 rides/454km for the month now.

Just got back from the airport. Dropped my daughter & SIL off. They're going to the Virgin Islands for Tgiving. They already did their family celebration last Sunday.

Pre-Thanksgiving? We can feel grateful but we have to hold it in.
Good morning, folks. It's just getting light. Nothing's gone wrong yet.
Enjoy your day.

Another beautiful day here, high expected to be 53 degrees. Later this morning I'll travel to Cedar Rapids to pick up my fresh turkey. We'll have our big Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday.
This afternoon I'll go out for a hike, Nothing to long, probably 2.5 miles. Gotta try to keep the legs in shape, our first ski trip is only about 6 weeks away.

Slow day at work, jockeying spreadsheets. This is why I've never agreed to do job shadowing (where a high school student comes to your office to see what a job is actually like). If high school me knew this was what accounting was like he would have run away. But then again high school me wouldn't have realized how much I really enjoy this stuff. Crazy.

More sad news, this time out Bruce's way -- a Walmart manager in Chesapeake, Va., killed six co-workers in a break room, wounded four more and then killed himself.
From the AP:
A database run by The Associated Press, USA Today and Northeastern University that tracks every mass killing in America going back to 2006 shows this year has been especially bad. The U.S. has now had 40 mass killings so far this year, second to the 45 that occurred for all of 2019. The database defines a mass killing as at least four people killed, not including the killer.

It's even sadder that these events barely get discussed now.

That was all the news when I got up this morning. Miserable news. I started Christmas shopping to get away from it. I had heard the shooter was the manager but I didn't know the dead were all employees. There's a story behind this so I guess I'll go back to watching the news. Thanks, Bill.

It’s horrible. What is wrong with us?
Sunny here, mid to upper 70s. Picked up a brined turkey breast for tommorrow at TJs, will pick up sides from Whole Foods today. Minimal cooking for tommorrow, using iInna Garten’s recipe for herbed butter turkey breast. Just Nita and myself, so a low key low stress day.
Now off to do battle with Wordle.

Merry Thanksgiving Eve.
The squirrels are all gutted and strung up for curing. A feast awaits!
(we're going to try LJ's recipe this year and boil them in vodka.)

Good morning.
22F-43F sunny.
Unlike the last few COLD days I DON'T have to go anywhere.
I will get quite a bit of shop time in today, good, I need the income as Christmas is coming. DaWife doesn't hold back, well a little since all the grandkids are adults except Zaria. You know you're getting old when you get socks for Christmas, and like it.

Merry Thanksgiving Eve. The squirrels are all gutted and strung up for curing. A feast awaits! (we're going to try LJ's recipe this year and boil them in vodka.) You read the recipe incorrectly. The correct method is “get boiled on vodka, then cook squirrels.” If you have enough vodka in you, the cooking method won’t matter. Nice day here. Sandhill cranes are making lots of noise. I am looking for a recipe for them. Fried crane would require a very big skillet.

T-Day with some in-laws at our place tomorrow. In-laws are bringing one roasted and one smoked turkey. I am looking forward to it, though the pre-visit house cleaning is a chore.
Phoebe the wonder dog decided to be odd at 4:00 a.m., whining, then getting up to go in the bathroom and stare at the bathtub for 15 minutes. Maybe she wanted to do some sleep bathing.

We are home alone Thanksgiving but off to drive to central NE Saturday to see Pat’s 98 y/o mom who is still in her home but failing. She is an absolutely amazing woman, still sharp, but just recently declaring she is ready for the next great adventure. When that state of mind happens it’s not good at her age.
Sad as she always seemed indestructible. Wirely, tough, high energy and positive. She met Pat’s dad in college in NE. He joined the Air Force in 1944. She took the train to New Mexico where he was stationed to marry him. They had a two day local honeymoon before he shipped out to the pacific as a B29 pilot.
The honeymoon was productive as Pat was born nine months later while he was still flying over Japan. I think that was a pretty common scenario in those days.
Got the sunburst OM out of the shop yesterday. Client drove up from the cities and seemed to like it.

I'll be seeing him next week about some repairs. I'll have him bring it so I can see it and check the neck settle.
Got a few hour of very productive work done today but damn am I tired. Time to grab Riley and take a nap.

All the data on my hard drive has disappeared, photos, music, downloads, documents, mail. Windows 10, Chrome, and a few programs are still there. I have what is supposed to be very good antivirus/security software. I am baffled. I'm not expecting help, just commiseration.
