All that, and spice. I'm not sure what the Irish fest sheppards pie was seasoned with, but I'm thinking that it was Old Bay seasoning. I'll know more once I try it. I found a Facebook video where the Irish Fest chef talks you through the whole thing in about 8 minutes. I watched about half, and the only seasonings he added were sage and thyme, in powdered form. But he may add other stuff later. I may have to try sage and thyme too. What what made me think of Old Bay, was, I was adding Old Bay to something else I was cooking and I got a good wife of it and I had an instant flashback to Irish Fest sheppards pie. There were many vendors selling "pie" there and I suspect each followed their own recipe.

Forgot to ask, is there any recognition of Pearl Harbor day in Japan on the 7th? No, no pearl harbor day here, no xmas, no july 4th, no memorial day, no presidents/MLK day, no easter/good friday, no thanksgiving, no juneteenth, no veterans day, no 9/11, no labor day, and no inches, feet, ounces or fahrenheit. And so on. Sort of odd how US-specific all those are.

Rosemary works for me in shepherd's pie. I've got a cottage pie in the oven at the moment. I put a mad amount of fresh thyme in it, but other cooks would use less. I put loads of cheddar, or parmesan if I'm feeling extravagant in the buttery, milky mashed potato.

Back from taking Mr. H to the doctor, where the PA removed a tulip from his ear. It had been in there for 5 days. Not a flower, the black silicone frammy on a hearing aid that gets inserted into the ear. He was in too much of a hurry when he cleaned the hearing aids and didn't get it attached properly. First time this has happened in 8 years of wearing hearing aids. Probably also the last time.
I think I'm finally caught up on everything since being out of town. Time to go make some music.

Good afternoon 44F partly sunny I was shaking like a leaf and woozy due to a cold room and lack of food but my nurse got me warm blankets, hot tea, breakfast bars and I was soon back to normal except still hungry. Now I'm eating a nice lunch and drinking a quart of water. 102 Days Until Spring. At hospitals in Beverly Hills they do all that plus you get laid.

Up early again. Must be an old guy thing. Always nice watching the sun come up. Coffee, where art thou?
Must be. I bolt awake at 4:00 am every day. Then I lie there with my brain racing.

As Paul Simon wrote, “Gee but it’s great to be back home…”
And it is. We hit Newberg abrounf 2:30 in the afternoon on a overcast and chilly day. The drive started this morning in a hard rain which continued for about half they day. Fog, mist, truck spray, fun it was not. But we made it. Tired tonight. Three days of driving can take it out of the geezer class.
Now we have to decorate the house for Christmas.

But when I got home I had a BIG bowl of hot oatmeal, a English muffin with PB and Cheddar and a pudding cup (sugar free).
