Ho morning It’s the same normal day. Actually it’s not normal. We’re still in the flu19 and it’s still in the wintry holidays So I guess it’s a curse and a blessing Enjoy your day

Ice and sleet still on the roads here. But it’s above freezing in Newberg, barely, so we are hopeful of getting out to the fish mongers around noon to look for some Dunginess for tonight’s salad.

Back from a Morelli's run, for milk, eggs, weenies and el vino confuzo. The place was hopping. Roads are pure ice -- when it's this cold, salt and other chemicals have zero effect.

Have good ones.

Waiting for the wind to die down before attacking the 3-1/2' drift in front of the garage. We really should put up snow fence in a couple of spots or plant a decent hedge, but after 11 years of living here, we are just too dumb to do that apparently.
Went out to start the vehicles and get the batteries back up to snuff before the quit completely.
Leftovers tonight from the meal we had on Thursday, my mother's own invention. She called it, "Cheap Chicken Wing Cacciatore". It is a tomato based sauce with lots of onion, whole chicken wings that have been floured and browned, and acini de pepe (also known as baby pastina) little tiny dots of pasta smaller than a BB that are cooked directly in the sauce to soak it up. It is messy to eat, but oh, so good.
Have a Merry whatever you celebrate.

The temperatures have risen to a balmy 4 degrees, the wind has settled down and the roads are finally clear. I haven't even stuck my hand out the door since getting home Wednesday, I think I'll run into town just to get out of the house.

Today is present day in our household, due to the presence of the children. I might have gotten a macro lens for Christmas (the plant is about 0.75cm across).

Happy Eve Day.
Nice and clear and sunny. A tad nippy at -6, but, it's a warm cold thanks to the sun and lack of wind.
This afternoon, I will be singing at one Lutheran church while Gus is singing at another one half-a-mile a way. But, he is getting paid. (I was offered $30 a rehearsal, $50 a serviceg, but declined. As an amature I can screw up freely and and repeatedly without guilt)
((I got roped into a choir performance earlier as a favor to a couple band buddies. I thought I would do a one and done, but ended up enjoying it and now I'm part of the team. ))

Macro lenses are very cool, John B! I'd never used one until Katherine and Larry came to visit. Katherine let me use hers. After that I had to buy one. I think you'll enjoy it.

Back from shopping. Roads are like a skating rink. We got around okay with our AWD Sube and good set of Michelins, plus careful driving and keeping our distance. Funny how most of the cars that we saw sitting sideways in the ditches were big honkin redneck pickemups. Just cause those guys can drive thru anything don't mean they're any good on ice...

Our ice has mostly turned to slush and roads are good in town. Shopping is done. Some wrapping to do. Our kids, their significant others, and their pets, arrive tomorrow.

I have a Subaru Outback and I put studded snows on it all four wheels. Helps it go, but less improvement in stopping.

We got essential errands run yesterday and are hunkered down for the Duration--yesterday's thirty-second exposure to the windchill getting from the Aldi doorway to the car removed any temptation to go out for last-minute eatables. And I have two pieces to finish writing before the end of the year anyway, and a Horatio Hornblower novel to fill in the gaps. Got the Outback's block heater power cord replaced just in time, so if we do have to get out, it will start with no problem--though even at minus-5, it only complained a little bit. Still, I'm content not to challenge the elements. Meanwhile, a kinda-Christmas card via one of my undergrad classmates--

Just home from a family gathering at my daughter's. Both kids and spouses, two grandchildren and spouses and a great grandson. Wonderful time. Another group of family tomorrow.
It's currently 16°F here but AccuWeather says we will have highs in the 50s starting Thursday and a high of 58°F a week from today.
Nap time.
BTW, after the summer dumpster-aided garage cleaning I have my car in the garage. 😀

The wind chill got up to zero, so I went for a walk. The swimming hole on Haw Creek. The public Par 3. Those dots in the sky are cranes!

John, do your route clients leave goodies for you in their mailboxes at Christmas? Pretty common around here. Lots of nice baked goods and chocolate, one $20 bill and one gift card for $115.
