The storm might have taken away any day off. We'll be playing catch up for some time now. Today is my 30th work day in a row.

Merry Christmas Eve. It's 15 degrees out. My heat pump can't keep up with that. We have some backup gas heaters but I wasn't allowed to turn them on last night, Mary can't stand the smell though I can't smell anything. So I slept in the living room hoping to turn at least one on after she went to bed at the other end of the house. She was up and down all night so I didn't get much sleep. Seemed safe about 4 this morning. The house was down to 58 so I lit the heater in the kitchen and it's up to 65 in that area anyway now. It's light out now so I suited up and went out to check the propane tank which I hadn't checked in awhile. We're OK and still have 1/2 of a tank. Once the sun comes up we'll probably get some heat gain from the windows. We might get back up to freezing tomorrow afternoon. These southern homes aren't built for cold. My son and DIL are driving down from western Maryland this morning but they are at 4 degrees now so we'll call it warmer down here. Hope this Christmas turns out better than the last one when I just got out of the hospital and couldn't do much of anything.
Hope y'all get to enjoy your holidays.

....and now I'm late for work and not really caring. The mail truck didn't make it through the storm.

Calmer weather to start the day. We are headed up to 10 above today with fairly normal winds. Big improvement over the last couple of days. We really didn’t get much snow. Hang in there.

Good morning. We'll have about 40-69. Same temperature range as epaul except for us those are outside temperatures.
Our church has four services today. I was asked by the communications person to take photos at the 3:30 service where the little kids stage a living nativity. Nobody goes to that service but kids and their parents. But I will. I'm never entirely comfortable taking photos during a service but this one is pretty informal and chaotic so I'll be less obtrusive.
I got lucky at Wordle. Hope that wasn't the high point of the day. Have a good one. Wordle 553 2/6*

More snow, more snowblowing. City plows plowed the west side of the street but not the east side.
DIL is working a 12-hour shift at a downtown hospital. Son and daughter and entire contingent of granddaughters are coming over to experience cabn fever at our house as compared to cabin fever at their homes. Scaled-back Christmas Eve dinner featuring the severed leg of an unfortunate pig.

We have some backup gas heaters but I wasn't allowed to turn them on last night, Mary can't stand the smell Get a Dyson heater. No sound, no smell and it provides a constant flow of warm air at a temp. you designate. The unit itself does not get hot so no worries of kids or pets (or you) burning themselves. It is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I am able to keep the entire house a little cooler and just use the Dyson when I feel chilly. Love it.

I'd like to bring glad tidings, but it's freaking cold here (8°, with wind chill like -4°) and only rising to about 18° this afternoon. Even Bianca went out for her morning walk with her little doggie vest on, and that's rare.
Plans include me baking a pear upside-down cake later today, for family dinner tomorrow.
Everyone, stay warm!

We have nothing planned for today except to open gifts later today. Eric told me yesterday that we have our first gig since forever. Feb. 23rd, and it pays. So today I will put together a 3 hour set list with a generous assortment of "recognizable" tunes mixed in with the blues we normally do.

Beautiful clear sunny morning- through the windows. The Chicago crew postponed their drive up till Sunday so we are on our own tonight. The Denver crew stayed home. We’ll just look at each other and say “so it’s you then”.
John, do your route clients leave goodies for you in their mailboxes at Christmas? Pretty common around here.

Fogged up windows. The Office/Music Rm is at 45 percent humidity. Comfy. Still nasty outside. But I won't step out until this afternoon. I will be playing and singing at the Christmas Eve Service. We did the Children's Christmas Pageant last Sunday. Hillarious. Today is when families come. A lot of grown up kids come back for Christmas. Nice to see everyone. Our family get-together will be tomorrow this year.

Good Christmas eve day! Even though the wind is still blowing here (Wisconsin) this morning it's above zero, a balmy +1.
Big project today will be making home made cookies, with homemade frosting for Santa.
We'll be at the 5:00 pm Christmas eve church service this evening.

Good morning
-5F- 5F breezy.
NOBODY is coming by for Saturday Shop but I will get some work done this morning before we go out for some last minute things.
Ayana's flight was delayed but she will be here this afternoon. Years ago Grandma started the tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve. So all our girls will be here for that and dinner, I think pizza, hot chocolate after. Tomorrow they show up for a breakfast of Orange French Toast with shaved chocolate, strawberries and whipped cream or any way you want it. Then the Main Event of opening presents and creating the one thing I hate about Christmas, the PILE of wrapping paper that is nothing but a huge waste.
But first a little shop time. Finishing up on a bridge I'm making for a Mossman Flint Hills. Hand making a new bridge and making it look like an original can be tricky but one of the things I really like to do.
86 Days Until Spring.
Happy Holidays to All.

15 degrees here in the sunny South, with wind chill of 3.
Getting ready to go to Kathy's parents' place for most of the day. We will go to church with them tonight.
John, my best thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish it could be something more.

Since my choir sings at the late Christmas Eve service, Mr. H and I did our traditional snacks and port last night instead. Had beef stick, Manchego cheese, eggplant in tomato and onion from TJ's, artisan whole grain bread, jalapeno and garlic stuffed olives, radishes, celery sticks, etc. My radishes and celery sticks were cut into small pieces due to my braces. Tonight we'll have trout filets, rice, and salad. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving leftovers from the freezer. Turkey and trimmings. All I have to do is make a pumpkin pie today and stovetop stuffing tomorrow because we ate all of the T-Day wild rice stuffing.
Low of 37 this morning, pretty consistent for the last several days.

I just looked at the bulletin for our 8:30 service. I was going to skip it because it'll be sardine city and I'm going to an earlier service. But the music has me reconsidering. Or maybe I'll watch the livestreamed version. Whatever your religious views or lack thereof, the music at Christmas is fabulous.

My Christmas gift from Elderdottir arrived yesterday -- a beautiful knit hat in multiple earthtone bands and a herringbone weave pattern, just amazing craftsmanship. And she included a more basic hat for Barb, of angora, silk and wool. Her knitting skills are off the charts, all started back in Waldorf School.

A little last minute grocery shopping run-around now that the wind has dies down, then Vikings at noon. Most likely zoom one of the Christmas eve services. Tomorrow we'll watch movies until Devon is finished with her ambulance shift, then a small supper gathering. Actual family Christmas dinner/presents/music will wait until next week when the Chicago kids come up.
