Feeling very St. Paulish tonight -- I just ordered a burger and onion rings from Hearthside, locally owned and only one location, couple miles from my domicile. While I wait for the delivery wagon, I have popped a Hamm's beer, from the land of sky-blue waters, a St. Paul touchstone.
When the gal taking my Hearthside phone order signed off, she said "Thank you, Mister Bill."
I liked that, from a complete stranger.

I've been dealing with a modern car today. The battery in the 2016 GMC Acadia is completely dead. Several days of below zero didn't help and admittedly my not paying attention to it didn't either. It's a goner and the car needs a new battery. That's life. But the days of removing the car battery, taking it into a store, getting a trade-in for a new one, taking it home and installing battery rather easily are gone. The battery in this car is under the back seat. Reminds me of a Plymouth Breeze we had once where the battery was under the passenger front fender. So tomorrow I'll be paying a tow truck to haul my car to town so a mechanic can change my battery. The good news, I guess, is that I don't have to lift a finger in any of this.

Isn't there a shop in town that can send a truck to your place with a new battery and install it? I don't understand the tow.

I'll look into it.

Vi, if it’s in the backseat, it should be easy to get to. Yank out the seat, take out the battery, drive it to a battery place where you can exchange it.

Lamb is lovely almost any way you prepare it.

Kaiah made spaghetti with her own sauce, Caesar salad and garlic bread. Then we all watched Avatar because we will see the new Avatar tomorrow.

When I'm working I use a Yeti for my coffee, both to keep it hot for a very long time and also to amaze Rob H, who can't believe how much I'm willing to pay to keep hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold (I can't believe it either, sometimes. I might consider a Yeti if I could get financing. Made it to about 50°F here today. Tomorrow may hit 54°.

Slept in again (I also have this week off, except for the times I choose to work). Had some overnight oats to start off today's eatin', followed by some coffee. When I'm working I use a Yeti for my coffee, both to keep it hot for a very long time and also to amaze Rob H, who can't believe how much I'm willing to pay to keep hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold (I can't believe it either, sometimes). But on the weekends and days off I use one of John's mugs. I just have to remember to heat the mug up before using, so the mug doesn't suck all the heat out of the first cup. For the second morning in a row, I have realized I don't need to heat the mug up so much, as I have (slightly) burned my lower lip on the first sip. So far this morning I have created a new sound on my synthesizer, which sounds a lot like sounds other people have created in the past 60 years. But it's my sound, so I'm pretty happy with it. I might take a chance and buy a 35+ year old Ibanez guitar/synth controller (an Ibanez IMG2010, for those who care about stuff like that). They normally go for $1.5K+, complete with all the boxes to connect to a synth, but this one's under $400 all by itself. Even if none of the synth stuff works, it's a cool "futuristic-looking" guitar (headless, funky-shaped body) that does all the stuff an electric ought to do. If I can get the synth connection to work with a few odds and ends from eBay, that will be cool. For my forays into combining guitars and synths, I'm not trying to get my guitar to sound like an orchestra, just trying to make new sounds. Nothing I will be debuting at IdiotJam, though, until I figure out acoustic synthesis. A Flange pedal with the shift at zero, depth low and the resonance tuned to the right point can give an electric guitar a very acoustic tone.

Topping off a hard, brutal day with a well deserved Scotch.
Well, the day wasn't that hard, and brutal is a stretch, though the cat did interrupt my nap TWICE!. Nevertheless, the day is done and I'm putting a cap on it with a, in my opinion, very well deserved Scotch.
