My sister sent me this a bit ago. I’m not intrigued because I don’t want one, but do find the idea interesting;

I'm assuming it's an unshared facebook link.

You can fold any guitar. It just isn’t a good idea.

A guy in NATO HQ in Afghanistan when I was there had one. He was a good player, and it sounded good in his hands. Sure, it wasn't as toneful as a full sized glued neck guitar, but it was good for what it was.

I'd think that as long as they were folding the neck they'd make it carbon fiber as well. That was my first thought.

I've seen and heard one. Nice, but nothing special. Still kind of a cumbersome thing to carry around. The one I saw somebody had flown to a Folk Alliance conference. Seemed awkward to have to fold it, and pack it, and unfold it every time you wanted to play it.

The original Voyage Air, by Harvey Leach, is a hand-made well-engineered guitar. He licensed the tech to another company to make it more affordable. I'm betting one of the ones made by Harvey is a pretty darn good-sounding guitar.
But yes, probably still cumbersome. Almost enough to make one take up ukulele or mandolin, if one is travel-minded (on an airplane, anyway).

Some of the locals here in Iowa I'm sure know Gala Drake, she has one of those.

Carbon would be a good idea as wood still needs humidity. They make a carbon fibre version. It doesn't have to collapse, but it can. I bought a used one for my grandkids.

These have been around forever. The fact that they still make them must mean somebody finds them useful.
