It’s Friday. I am still sick. That’s all I have. Carry on.
I hope you're feeling better soon.
My FIL turns 95 today. He has had one hell of an autumn, with a fall, broken femur and surgery, some internal complications, but he has managed to pull through and is doing pretty well.
This week off for me has been quite enjoyable. Not having to schlep in to Hell's Kitchen every day on the subway and deal with the stretch of 34th Street we call "Scumbag Alley" has really been a delight. It is populated not just with homeless people, but with drug addicts visiting the several methadone clinics in the area.
The photo below was not too long ago, just around the corner from my office, one block northeast of Pennsylvania Station. This is where I walk to the office.

Good morning. We'll have 50s-60s today and then the weekend will bring another front and more rain.
Last night we had a household favorite: sausage, chard and bean soup. It had previously always been sausage, kale and bean soup. We don't have any kale in the winter garden and we have plenty of chard. It worked fine.
Today I plan to take a walk, clean the smoker and go to the central library with my wife. I think there are a couple of other minor items on my list. I can't remember them. That's why I keep a list.
It was 50-50 on the third guess and I guessed the wrong one. Wordle 559 4/6*

Hope you feel better soon, LJ.
Hoping to hear that Marty is OK.
I’m up, off to the store after coffee to get some stuff Nita needs for her party. Wish the party wasn’t today, as I’ll miss the zoom thing.

Today's plan is to finish all the last minute things that are required for a successful ski trip to Colorado. My daughter and family will arrive here this evening and tomorrow morning at zero-dark-thirty, we'll head west. We're going to spend New Year's eve in Ogallala, NE, and then continue on to Breckenridge on Sunday. We'll be staying at a ski-in, ski-out condo right across the street from the strawberry lift. We should be arriving in between snow storms and Monday should be a powder day. The grandkids are hoping they'll open the high alpine terrain next week. The Imperial super chair, that goes up to just below 13,000 ft hasn't opened yet, but with all the snow, once they complete the avalanche mitigation process it should open. It doesn't really matter to me, I won't be skiing up there, although I have been known to go up, look around, take pictures, and then gingerly make my way back down.

My Mother's 98th birthday today. A bunch of family will go see her today to have lunch at her retirement facility. We will probably overwhelm the grill.

So far an uneventful day today...but the day is still young! I am going to tackle the bridge on my new Weber Mandolin to see if I can free up the workings of the bridge enough to get it to lower just a bit. Action at the 12th fret is excessive. (The backup plan is to purchase a new post-screw type of bridge). The Weber uses rosewood wedges that raise and lower the bridge and these wedges are not working at lowering the action. There are set screws at either end of the bridge that allows for raising and lowering the bridge by moving these wedges within the confines of the bridge. My plan is to remove these wedges from their pocket and give them a light sanding to see if I can get them to move within the bridge a bit more freely. This will be a lot of trial and error with the hope that I will not see any major problems. I am using a low tack tape to mark the location of the bridge prior to its removal and will simply loosen the strings without removing them. If anyone has any other insight please let me know.

Get better, LJ. Marty, you OK?
I have four full days off, and only a handful of errands left, having done the banking, post office, tire inflation essentials yesterday. There WILL be culinary exploration, at home and abroad. I was startled to read that there is a place in St. Paul that serves prime rib daily, instead of once a week like most eateries here, and was tempted to visit until checking the price on their website and it is $42. Pass. There's a legit supper club in Miesville where I could get it this evening or tomoro for half that price, with a fun drive included.
Speaking of food, mortadella is one of this year's trendy foods, and cabbage replaces kale, which is fine with me.

OK, I've narrowed it down to trying On's Kitchen (Thai) in St. Paul for the first time, or reliable walleye 'n' chips at Stout's Pub, or BBQ something-or-other at some smokehouse joint.
Progress.

Yes. I feel bad for those people. I try not to hand out money, though. If someone asks me for money for food, I often offer to buy them something rather than just give them cash. Frequently, they turn the offer down, which lets me know they don't really want food. No way will I pay for dope or alcohol anymore. It is not quite as awful on the street lately (but it ain't great; I still see dope deals and people shooting up on the subway steps) because our mayor has cracked down on the homeless problem, but more by busting up encampments than finding a practical solution for housing them. The shelters are apparently a disaster. It's a real conundrum.

I’ve been sick a smidge bit and it sounds like a lot of people is a little tiredness fatigued wintry colds
Here’s some of the things that’s happening with me - My Mint Mobile company is simply in ATT networking. It’s mostly on the Internet, & robots. They don’t even have an office. It was/is a mess . I can’t tell you the whole story, but it’s incredibly cheap. $27/mo. I will keep it. The Mint screwed up my bank account totally confused. Mint put my payment in the wrong spot, and I didn’t have any money in my bank. (I was in minus) so a friend gave me a little bit money just for a little while and of course I have to give it back.
Well, that’s one of those this world especially the Internet, social media etc.
So now it’s time for some classical music. It’ll either on my computer or with my fingers fortepiano
