I put a total of 6 clips of songs on a free Soundcloud page this week, the goal being to have something I can email or text a coffee shop or other small venue owner if I'm interested in playing there. Not looking for perfection, just a quick way of giving someone some examples of what I do. It was pretty easy to upload these things, and the link would be easy to send. So my question: What are the advantages of spending money for a paid Soundcloud account? The only thing I'd like to change is to put the clips in a different order than they are in now, but that doesn't seem worth the money it would take. Neither does making the link aesthetically pleasing. I read the site and the information I get regarding the benefits of upgrading is how amazing it would be, but beyond my purposes. For those of you who have an account, what do you use it for? Is it worth paying an annual or monthly fee? What I've got seems to suit my purposes. soundcloud.com/todd-frank-473038085

There ought to be a way to get them on there in the order you want without upgrading. Might have to delete them and reload them in your preferred order, or reverse order (I don't remember how Soundcloud orders uploads).
I don't think you have to pay for Bandcamp either.

What is "Soundcloud"?

I've been using Soundcloud as a place to keep all of my songs and allow them to be streamed by anyone. Kay & Brown, Acoustic Blues
The one thing I do use frequently is the Dolby Mastering tools. I don't get unlimited ability to use the tools, only 3 or 4 free mixes per month. But that is plenty for me. Other than that though, it doesn't have that much additional value over the free accounts.

When we were doing our duo we had our own website that my wife paid for and maintained. It let you do a lot of custom things like maintain email lists and sound samples and really didn't cost much per month (on the order of $10/month) and our work and CD sales covered it pretty handily.
But for what you're trying to do, the free site should be fine.
For a variety of personal and religious reasons I've recommitted to making one more stab at getting Pieces of Malarkey off the ground so I'll be using the free services of the PoM YouTube page that I've had for probably 15 years work again to do exactly what you're doing. Only I'm making videos and YouTube does that pretty well.
Good luck.

Thanks everybody. And Marshall, you were correct. I deleted the songs and put them in backwards order, which make them in the order I wanted. Thanks!

Thanks everybody. And Marshall, you were correct. I deleted the songs and put them in backwards order, which make them in the order I wanted. Thanks! Cool. That's what I remember. It puts the last one in on top. I suppose there's some logic to that. But it makes you jump through hoops to get the "set list" you like. Good.

But then you'd miss the secret messages.
