The sun broke thru a time or two today, hosed off the drive area and around one side of the house. Out to dinner tonight, paella with a couple dishes before that came. I'm not a fan of bits of crab as finger food, but the wife likes it.
Anyway...

Good morning though still pretty dark here.
We had a few warm days so I got some yardwork done and the battery operated small chainsaw I got for Christmas works great for cutting branches down to manageable sizes. It's reasonably quiet and I've cut a lot of wood on just one charge.
I have my first meeting with the Cataract surgeon this afternoon to get checked out and plan for the surgery. Hope it goes well.
Have a good January 4th.

Good morning.
30F - 33F snow, snow and more snow. Current depth is, I think, 12 inches but it could easily be more than that.
Having freshly baked almond croissants and good coffee, damn. DaWife can bake, I can make good coffee.
We have been keeping the cupboards well stocked along with the freezer and now it's going to pay off. The plows won't be coming by until most of the snow has fallen. Then we'll get the truck dug out and move it to a already plowed North/South street while they plow our street. I have a parking pad out back but that alley never gets plowed unless you contract someone to do it and then you have to get your neighbors to split the cost, fat chance. It's such a lousy alley nobody parks back there in the winter as it is a dead end and has a steep uphill grade towards the street. Even 4X4s get stuck back there.
Going to try to finish a few repairs that will bring in quite a bit of income, if the customers can get here to pick it up.

Watched a great movie on Netflix last night. “Operation Mincemeat”. A reasonably accurate depiction of the operation designed to deceive the Germans that the initial landing to invade the “soft underbelly” of Europe would be Greece not Sicily.
It involved fake papers attached to a dead body made to look like it washed up on a beach in Spain following a plane crash. I remember seeing a movie long ago called “The Man Who Never Was” that addressed the same operation but this is much better and very well done!

My plowing service cleared my driveway yesterday at 4 p.m., but of course it kept snowing overnight and the city plow came by this morning around 8 and left a new wall at the end of the driveway, so I await the tractor's second visit sometime this afternoon, they say. I've got plenty of food and as long as the power doesn't fail, I'll be fine.

Good morning, everyone.
Bruce, my second round of cataract surgery is tomorrow. People here told me it could make a big improvement. It certainly has in the eye that was fixed last time. Better yet, little discomfort. Good luck with your procedure.
We'll have 40s-60s today and for the foreseeable future. After tomorrow morning's eye surgery I won't be able to drive so I'll buy groceries today.
Enjoy your day.

Cataract surgeries. Buncha old farts. Mine are scheduled for 2/8 and 2/28. They will be done by our regular ophthalmologist. She did both of Mr. H's cataracts. My main concern is what to do for glasses for about 2 months before all has settled and I get a new prescription. I have elected to get both eyes set for distance and can probably get by with drugstore readers when it's all over. I go in with 20/400 vision in both eyes. Maybe I'll dig out an old pair of glasses and have the left lens removed for the first phase.
Mr. H is fasting because he'll have routine lab tests this morning. I had a very light breakfast and we'll have lunch at a BBQ place that he wants to try.

Renee, I asked and was advised to use drug-store reading glasses for the interim period. The doc even told me what magnification to get. It has worked fine.

Best quote I've read this week:
Go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something. ~Kurt Vonnegut

I know it’s Wednesday. It feels like Wednesday which often feels like Tuesday or Thursday. It never feels like Friday, but once, when I was a kid I remember it feeling like a Saturday-but just briefly. I never mistake Sunday because of the bells. Anyway, no matter how it feels to you, enjoy Wednesday. There will be another next week. Just like clockwork.

Good morning musicians
There’s a lot going on
Anxiety comes from many sources, emotional, physical, life events, external, internal. The No. CA is supposed to be experiencing a lot of rain and possible flooding over the little while. So there may be a lot of stress and anxiety around as well.
Enjoy your days

Mid week ski report. This is our 3rd day skiing Breckenridge. This morning when we hit the slopes at 8:30, it was 13 degrees with a 20 mph wind.
Maybe an inch of snow last night but it's been snowing lightly all morning. Got in a little over 12,000 vertical feet this morning.
Yesterday we had 6 - 8 inches of powder, for some really great skiing. Tomorrow's forecast is calling for a high of 38 degrees!
