Ask the staff in the ER. They didn’t see him fall either. Except that only a very small fraction of people who fall end up in the ER. Last year Colorado had a daily, season average of 77,000 - 78,000 skiers per day. Average daily ER visits was around 55. So .07% of skiers visit an ER, and my guess is that less then 1% of those were injured skiing the trees.

Morning... or so the clock tells me, not the sun, which didn't rise in Minnesota today.

I notice today is Jim Fay’s birthday too. Does anyone here keep track of Jim?

Hey, epaul, even though I'm a lifelong Packer fan, I feel your pain over the Vikings loss. It was a pretty good year with a new coach who seems to be a smart guy, so I'd say the future looks good. The Pack on the other hand? Who knows? I think Aaron needs to put on a pair of sandals, sit in a tree, play guitar and wait for The Answer.

I'm sustained by my Norse Faith which informs me that no matter how bad it is, it will only get worse in the future.

Being a natural-born Swede AND Norwegian, I again feel your pain...but cheer up, Floki is always building a new boat.

I read all of this late today because my wife told me to buy a new tool today. Jeez, I hate that! We are now well-equipped with an assortment of screwdriver heads in a wide assortment.
Of course, the first assortment failed to have the correct size square head driver so I went out again. That tip yielded the correct square head but she forgot to tell me about the other things she needed. Three trips total but now our cabinets are secure and will not fall apart anytime soon!
As Paleo observed, it is raining lightly here and pretty darn gloomy, but wildly warm for this time of year. We are 46 degrees and may see a high today of 50 (if the weather gods smile on us)!

Norse Faith is kind of like Star Wars except everyone knows the dark side will eventually prevail.

I slept in late today. Didn’t get up until 7:20. The kids are all moved in to the new house. Everything they own is in boxes, but the boxes are in the house. Mom and I are not stoked that they have abandoned us in the hinterlands of wine country, but at least we have wine.
Starting a new diet today, called eating sensibly and not snacking on chips all day long. The goal is to lose 12 lbs in the next two weeks, before a appointment with my primary. We will see.

Managed to scoot over to the supermarket for gas, prescriptions, and groceries without getting wet. Then we bundled up and did our walk, also without getting wet. Washes are running. The Rillito River was already running and it's now bank to bank. It's normally dry, as are the washes. Just under an inch of rain in our neighborhood, .94" so far today, to be exact. That's on top of .58" from yesterday.

I've been skiing in the mountains for 45 years and the young man, the friend of my grandson, is the only person I personally know that has required hospitalization from hitting a tree. I know a bunch of people who were not skiing the trees that ended up in the ER. Several years ago while we were at Breckenridge a gentleman was killed when he hit some trees. He was not wearing a helmet. Most skiers today wear helmets, so they have some protection.
