Anyone watching the hot new series on HBO? Apparently based on a PlayStation apocalypse-genre game about a fungus that destroys civilization.
I needed something to fill time during workouts so I’ve watched the first three installments. Two tomatoes maybe but critics and audiences are apparently star struck.

I watched the first one. I'll watch more. It's a very familiar dystopian SYFY plot line. But the acting is good. And the script is written well enough that it held my interest. Like I said, I'll continue on. I just finished season 1 of Deadwood. (Oops Deadwind) I liked it a lot. It's Finnish with subtitles. acting is very good. Scenery is quite good. Plot is a good detective story. I like these foreign detective series. It's interesting to see how people live in other countries. Not all that different than we. Watched Pale Blue Eye. I thought it was fine. Better than the reviews. It was a little slow and dragged out. But we watched it in two sittings. That worked fine. I thought the ending was good with some surprises. (Look out JohnB ) That's all I'm going to say.

I think Rotten Tomatoes had it at 64% and a consensus that the book was better.

Deadwood was really good too.

We’ll I just watched Ep02 tonight. Pretty good. It’ll be a couple days before I get back to it. But, as luck would have it, I turned on Jimmy Kimmel and he had on the star of episode 3, and they didn’t spill the beans except to say 6.4 million people viewed Ep03 and the response is terrific. Many, many people in tears. So, it’s supposed to be really good. (The Last of Us)

My daughter and I have been watching. She is enthralled by Pablo Pascal and Bella Ramsey, from watching "Game of Thrones." I don't care for it that much, but I watch so we can sit together and have some dad-daughter time.
We have also been watching reruns of "The Walking Dead." I think this has helped her conquer her fear of zombies, to which she was exposed at too tender an age. As a result, she has become a major Norman Reedus fan. Her birthday is in two weeks, and through some contortions and connections at work, I have secured a copy of Reedus's book of photos, "Portraits from the Woods," with an autographed book plate. We're keeping our fingers crossed that his manager gets him to personalize it to the kid, but not holding our collective breath. I am hoping this will score me some major dad points.

I have not watched any of the show, but I have heard bits and pieces. I am a little worried that my new mushroom-growing hobby will bring about the apocolypse.
