Walk on by.
There will always be something there to remind me of him.

Good tunes--make even more memorable by some really sharp lyrics by Hal David.
What do you get when you kiss a guy? You get enough germs to catch pneumonia. After you do, he'll never phone ya, I'll never fall in love again.
Or
L.A. is a great big freeway, Put a hundred down and buy a car. In a week, maybe two, they'll make you a star. Weeks turn into years, how quick they pass, And all the stars that never were Are parking cars and pumping gas.

I was an unappreciative teenager when he wrote the most notable songs and was well into middle age before I realized just how brilliant the Bacharach/David collaboration was.

I love this, from the first album I ever bought with my own money. Rumor has it that even Mr. Bacharach liked it.

Bacharach music is some of my favorite ever. I was just thinking about this performance the other day.

I remember the first time I heard this song come on a pandora random play list. I started singing along.... "...any day now...."
Huh?
I had to google up, but I already knew it was the exact same backing track as Chuck Jackson's (Burt Bacharach's) hit "Any Day Now".
Yup. They recycled the very same backtrack, just tweaking the volume of the organ intro.

The Monday Night Jazz (on Thursday) guys called a bunch of Bacharach tunes tonight, and boy, are those charts hard to follow. All the tunes are completely familiar to me, but they're also structually odd--extra measures in A sections, tough little codas. And when the quite accomplished leader sang "What the World Needs Now," it made me realize how skillful Dionne Warwick is, and how well-carpentered those lyrics are. It's a jazz waltz with all kinds of little syncopations and hesitations and anticipations. I sat out on all of them, though I did quietly sing along with Dionne in my head.

i can usually come up with an arrangement that works for tunes that I love, but I recall efforts at "Alfie" crashing and burning, with no hope of survival. Burt Bacharach said Alfie may have been his favorite lyrics from Hal David.
Thanks John for the Stevie Wonder performance, had never heard that one.

One of those people that when I was a teen, I’d never have admitted liking. Now you go through that list of songs, and man….
