I've mentioned Mel Lamar here in the past. He was a professional guitarist and teacher that loved jazz and with whom I was lucky enough to be able to gig with for 6 or 7 years and learn from. One of the most delightful human beings I've known and a great player. He died at 93 last fall. This song popped up on my playlist recently . About 6-7 years ago Mel called and said he was asked to write a little song for a documentary a videographer in his home town in Wisconsin was working on. He asked it I would record it. We just called it "Mel's tune. He recorded one track playing a walking bass line and some chords on guitar and a second with the melody. Thought you guys might enjoy it. He was about 85 when he did it. It only took two takes as I recall. I would say that the vibe of this little number pretty much describes Mel's personality. soundcloud.com/terken-1/mels-song-swingmp3?si=5873ebc6abde4d84875b52a6848c5ac0&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
