Up and coffee in hand. Should have used a cup. Pancakes today. Yay! It’s foggy out. Very foggy. Stay as close to normal as you can today.

Got up to feed the dogs at 5:00 and just stayed up. highs in the 70's and sunny today. We'll go to the Litchfield Art Fair today to buy unnecessary artistic objects.
Our sponsor at the Wine Social last Thursday was so happy with our performance that he wants us back as soon as we're willing. Eric even got him to say he'd pay us more.

"We'll go to the Litchfield Art Fair today to buy unnecessary artistic objects." We have enough of those, thanks.
Good morning, everyone. We had a colorful dawn and we'll see about 50-70 here.

Good morning
18F-37F.
Usual Sunday stuff, we're old and set in our ways. Then DaWife is going to the Science Museum with the girls, Kaiah works there so she gets a lot of free passes. I get to stay home and work, thank you.

"That's why one has a garage sale. Where do you think those 'Artists' get their art to sell?"
There's certainly a lot of stuff I don't like at such events but there are also plenty of people for whom it's the equivalent of self-publishing. I've seen work that could be pretty good with a few minor changes. The last time I checked, the photography I'd see at such events tended towards oversaturated landscapes, probably because that's what people bought. (Now nobody buys photography even from established pros.) It often displayed a good mastery of technique. I suspected that the photographer could easily be persuaded not to ride the saturation slider so hard and to find subject matter that wasn't the equivalent of easy listening music.
I hope no one takes this to be a condemnation of landscape photograph. There's still a lot of it I like. Usually it's because the photographer found an approach to photographing landscapes that wasn't hackneyed.
A friend's late wife was a successful painter. She did both work designed to sell and work designed to satisfy her personal impulses. They were quite distinct.

We've bought tons of art over the years, but I can say that I never appreciated the artistic value of a framed photo. Though they are pretty. And at least they aren't velvet paintings.

In all the years I have been performing in various music groups I have always been a sideman or at least performed as a duo, I can probably count on one hand (maybe two) the number of times I have been in front of an audience solo and sang.
I decided to get out of my comfort zone and go to a low bar open mic last night. I couldn’t believe how nervous I was. I think I got through it without embarrassing myself too much.

And I'm sure it was comforting to know you had the best guitar in the room, too ...

I've heard you solo, Terry, singing about science. I thought it was great.
It's sunny now, but it sound like we'll have some thunderstorms tonight. I see my stupid-in-law called, I have't brought myself to call her back yet.

Just got back from church and Walmart. I enjoyed the first of those. The second one, not so much. But we got most of the things on our list.
Had a good time at the BBQ last night Just the host couple, us, and 5 other people. A bit nippy as we walked home about 9 PM. Then stayed up a little past our bedtime. Saw 2 guitars and asked who played. Both parts of the host couple play. I have no idea what kind of music or how good they are, but maybe somewhere down the road I'll find out.
Have been trying to connect with my brother since yesterday. I catch him in the middle of something and then he catches me at a bad time. About all we seem to manage is brief texts. Not my preferred form of communication.

But all too often when I see/hear what passes for "Art" could have been from a garage sale for all it's worth to me. Art makes a difference in our lives, it moves us, makes us thoughtful but not because "we don't get it". If no one gets it why bother ie Warhol's Soup Can, ostentatious crap. Okay I guess I just don't "Get It" but I'll have some more really expensive wine please. Art is almost always handmade or handcrafted. A Kennedy is handmade, a Martin handcrafted. High art leaves us in awe. Michelangelo's David is not only stunningly beautiful but one always thinks "How the hell did he do that"? But good art can also be as simple as a well crafted song or even something as lowly as a loaf of bread if that bread captures your attention. A baker can be as true an Artist as a Master Sculptor. Damn that's good, how the hell did he do that?

I was beginning to wonder what changed with Wordle and me. For most of last year I most often solved it in three. It lead by 12 over guesses in four. But suddenly guesses in four surpassed guesses in three at the beginning of the year and now guesses in four leads three by 14. The past three days have been 3,3,2,3. I'm on a roll.

Dog walked and fed. Yardwork done. Frau David has prepared burritos. Time to put my feet up and view the tube (that means television for you young folks).

I had a disappointing adventure today.
I got up and went to church choir. Early in the service, I learned that the church youth were selling "ready to bake or freeze" casseroles to raise money for a trip. $30.
I love casseroles and I don't mind supporting kid trips, so I snuck out of church right after singing to see if I had any money in the car. I had $30 on the button. But, I thought I'd support the kids and my belly by buying a couple casseroles, so I went off to Hugos, my nearby local grocery, figuring I would get eggs and milk for brunch and use my Discover card to pick up the needed extra cash.
Partway to Hugo's, I make a snap decision to make the longer drive to the south end and go to Target instead so I could get Charlene a couple of those chocolate croissants she loves so dearly.
Once at Target, I discovered they had run out of the chocolate croissants. So, I just bought milk and eggs. But, at checkout, I discovered I had forgotten to grab my Discover card out of the car (where I stash it in the glove compartment for road emergencies and forgotten billfold days). Rats.
No time to go back to the car and return with my Discover card, the casserole sale was starting in 15 minutes. So, I checked out, hopped in the car, and took off for the church.
On the way back to church, I almost decided to swing by home and pick up the extra cash as it was nearly on the way.
No time, I decided. Live with just one casserole
When, I arrived back at the church and they were still in communion. Hey, I had time to head home and grab more money, enough to buy three casseroles. So, I raced home.
Back at the church, the parking lot was still full and there were people still milling about the entry. Great! I'm back in plenty of time to buy my casseroles.
They were sold out.
Rats.
I made five different decisions concerning the casseroles. Any one, two, three, or four of which would have resulted in a casserole. But all five together... rats.
