Near as I can tell, the release was mutual.
It really sounds like Adam Thielen was pretty open to the idea of being a free agent.
Barring a miracle (and a couple of really lucky drafts... which have been very elusive of late) the Vikes are looking at couple pretty tough years coming up, and I think Adam wants to spend his last couple years in the league playing for team that has a chance to make a Super Bowl run rather than a team hanging on the cliff of a breakdown and rebuild. A "look to the future youth movement" is no place a savvy vet wants to spend his last couple seasons.
So, I'm actually feeling good for Thielen. I hope he catches on with a good veteran team that has a good chance to make a run at the SB and that he can find a good role on that team. (He would pair up pretty good with Mahomes)
As for the Vikings, I am leaning towards the breakdown and rebuild plan. The holes in their defense are just too vast to fill. I would trade both Cousins and Jefferson for all they can get (Jefferson would net them up to 4 number ones). The Vikings cupboard is bare. Their talent deficit on defense is huge. They need a ton of draft picks and they need to hit on them. They have three good players on their offensive line that would be a good rock to rebuild on as those guys are good for another 8 or 9 years.

Thank you for keeping up the chatter about snow: It dilutes my depression about our rainy, 35 - 40 f weather.
This morning's task is to determine how to get my paralegal's 3.5 Gig of "task list" data onto my computer and into Outlook.
Tomorrow's task will be learning how to use it. Monday will be learning how to use Quickbooks for my various office accounts. I suppose this is good for my brain.

There will be about a 60’ track out of a thicket of bushes, a divot in the snow with the morning excrement, then tracks back home for a little more sack time. Enough about you; didn't you mention something about wildlife?

Back from Traitor Joe's (Cara Cara oranges are in, yay!). The question is: On the way home, did I stop at Culver's for takeout walleye and onion rings?
Well, what do YOU think?

St.John VFW fish fry tonight. It’s a lot like a clam bake except there are no clams and nothing, other than dessert, is baked. Here in the Great Lakes Region, the fish is always perch but they also do shrimp and crab cakes. Generous portions of yellow perch, truly the fish of the gods, or, at least, the fish of the Region. Homemade desserts—lots of cakes, cookies, & pies which are often apple and lemon meringue. A stray cherry or blueberry sometimes shows up.

I recall with great delight how blown away Howard was with his first-ever fish fry encounter at the Vinton VFW, which was one of the more unremarkable ones I've ever been to, not helped by our getting there at the tail end of the show. But then, where he lives is basically a food desert.

But then, where he lives is basically a food desert. They fry up this wonderful looking fish, then put it in electric roasters to keep it warm, which makes the crust all soggy.
