Had the house all open today, nice fresh air.
One to puzzle over:

Something backwards about that and so, yeah, I'm puzzled. I would think you'd need to fret the string to get it to ring at that pitch. Very nice!
Beware the Ides, y'all!

Cold going up to less cold. It’s sunny & the birds are starting to get very noisy in the morning. A sign of spring? This guy is here every day hunting for birds to snack on. He seems to like St. Francis.

Yes. There are lots of hawks around here. This is actually one of the smaller ones. I am not sure what type he is. Maybe Cooper Hawk?

Good morning! Sticking with the bird theme, I threw out some old stale bread this morning for the birds. I'll see if they want to eat it, if not the rabbits probably will.
Forecast for today is mid 50s, so I plan to celebrate by going hiking this afternoon.

The bush that can be barely seen in the photo is a bird hangout. There will be 15 or more small birds all over it all day long. When the hawk shows up, the small birds head inside the bush where the hawk can’t fit. They sit there as still as can be while the hawk circles around the bush, lands on it, walks around at the base, or sits on St. Frank’s noggin. At some point, a small bird will fly out heading for the bushes by the pond. The hawk will tear out after it and all the other small birds will fly quickly in the opposite direction. I always hope the bird that heads for the pond makes it. Maybe they draw straws to pick who does it.

The meeting last night was not as bad as I had feared, but it was definitely trying. Nothing like members rewriting history and forgetting previous discussions and decisions.
Oy.
Have good ones.

Good morning
27F-43F cloudy.
Took DaWife out last night so she could do some errands. She's not quite ready to drive again after eye surgery. Both eyes are great but not quite in sync yet so I needed to drive. After errands we had dinner at the Little Oven because it was right on the way home. I ate too much and paid for it by not sleeping well. I still have enough manicotti for another meal. She had a half order of the Hot Turkey sammich. If that was a half order a full order could have feed 3 people. I sold another item on Reverb so I'll have to pop by the Post Office at some point today.

Morning. This afternoon I trying to get one of our lead boys to open his mouth while singing. Then it's off to Thief River to root for the Warren Ponies in the Section 8A semi-final. Two more wins, and it is off to State (and the heavy favorite Section bully from the east half got knocked off, so it's wide open for the remaining four).

Rain all day today. That atmospheric river hitting California is moving through here today with a cold front. So suffice it say we will hunker down today...and probably play lots of guitar music.

Unseasonably cold here, down to freezing last night and still just barely above 50.
I'm about to break for lunch. I'm thinking of going to Waffle House today. Every once in a while I indulge.

Good morning, everyone. I've been looking at a flower bed which, recently, had been filled with weeds that sapped the vitality of the nearby annuals. My wife had cleared them out and discouraged them with a layer of homegrown mulch while I was preoccupied.
I was about to post something innocuous this morning.
It then occurred to me that this seems to me, mostly, like a gathering of friends. It's a click or two away from being read by the whole world. All they have to do is sign up as a member. I think a lot of us have said things we regret that is only an alias away from people we know, who would be fooled by an alias at all. One guy who didn't seem to grasp this fact was a state official who was defeated in the next primary. The reason was he was identifiable, despite his alias, as the guy who had made some truly outrageous comments in a conservative internet forum. I've made some comments that might cost me some friendly acquaintances. I seldom remember that when I post. I've seen posts here by people I like that made we wince when I read them.
That's an aside. I'm having a pleasant day. I'm going stop this and take a walk or photograph flowers. Enjoy your day.

We have a couple of mute swans in the work pins, plus a snow goose has joined the Canada geese. I don’t get close to them, but they are beautiful.

The reason was he was identifiable, despite his alias, as the guy who had made some truly outrageous comments in a conservative internet forum. These days, pretty much anything one does or says is potentially available to seven billion of our closest friends. Anything typed on a connected keyboard definitely is, but we also never know when we are being videoed and recorded by people who love to share what they’ve seen. You can hardly make a nice breakfast for your lover without a picture of it being shared on the Net along with its embedded time and location data. As you say, the SoundHole is a collection of friends. There is no one here whom I don’t regard as a friend. I have no idea how a prospective new member could, at this point, come to feel the same sense of kinship most of us feel. We’ve become like professional comedians in the old joke who know all the gags by their assigned numbers.

Did a duo job at the wine bar last night with the trumpet player and some simple back up tracks I recorded.
It turned into one of those magical evenings I never expected. We both got in the zone, raised each other up, and it kind of flowed and swung a little on quite a few songs. Pretty unusual for me but that made it all the more memorable.
Had a crown removal, root canal, filling, and new porcelain crown CNC’d on site this AM. All in two hours. Amazing as was the bill. About 40% more than my Medicare reimbursement for a total joint and six weeks of post operative care in 2004.
Might want to steer your grandkids towards Dentistry 😊
