From the mobile (phone) photo awards, Pillow Puppy by Aaron Sandberg: That's well down in the section Portraits and Self Portraits. Too awfully many other wonderful shots (except I don't care for two the final categories, visual fx, and AI). mobilephotoawards.com/12th-annual-mpa-winners-honorable-mentions/This is another that I really like:

Good morning.
22F-44F Rain.
Temps dropping a bit as the day progresses. Tomorrow will be quite cold and windy.
I have a Doc appointment at 11:00, just INR. One of my Reverb sales ended up at the wrong address and I'll have to get that straightened out today. Got lots going in the shop besides cleaning and arranging and hopefully I'll get some of that done also. Seems being very busy is good for me as I have more energy than I have had in a long time.
4 Days Until Spring. For everybody else maybe but not us.

Good morning, all.
I have tomorrow and Monday off from work, so of course the clinic schedule looks disastrous today.

46 degrees and overcast this morning. Chances of rain are high and later this evening, maybe a mixture of precipitation. Practice tonight with one of the latest projects S, P & B. Have good ones!

In so much pain today I can barely type.
Had to change the a low beam headlight in the Subaru last night. When I finished I told Sue that if I had to do it again, I was going to put an ad out, "Subaru Outback for sale, No Reasonable offer refused, one headlight out".
Ran into a couple that were talking about music stuff (after dropping off their clock), and half way through the conversation I suddenly remembered them from one of the Eastern Iowa Folk Music get togethers at the Artisan Sanctuary when Dub and Joy were holding it. They had done, "Tonight you belong to me" in the way Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters had done it in the movie "The Jerk". They were shocked that I had remembered it so clearly, and it reminded me of all those great moments at IdiotJam that are burned into my memory of people making music just for the fun of making music. I'll never forget Russell doing Scotch and Soda in the depot that time, just a few of us and him playing it so nicely. Anyway, they asked me to come to a song circle / jam held at the American Legion every Sunday afternoon in Iowa City. I think I'm going to have to check it out this Sunday.

Major minor, Pvt. Cornflake reporting for duty.
Good morning everybody. jdd--"from the mobile (phone) photo awards"--makes me wonder if I had ever suggested that the kind of work I did was somehow superior. A short answer is that one guy who was recently been experimenting with a smartphone in his neighborhood and on vacation is named Stephen Shore. He was a renowned photographer in his time using equipment that wasn't as good as a smartphone. Many things he had to learn included how to frame a scene and be conscious of the light and all that. He tried to photograph ordinary things in an unusual way. It doesn't surprise me that he takes some of the best smartphone photos I've ever seen. If I recall correctly, Howard's dad once commented that the most important thing in photography was not the camera but the brain.
I hope all of you have as good a day as circumstances permit.

Joe, That is a beautiful post. Consider it “heart”ed, not just “liked.” Very sorry about your hand pain. You definitely have my sympathies. I’d think about joining you on Sunday because it’s been way too long. But Joy will be holding forth at the Farmers Mercantile on Sunday with Bob Black and Banjoy. They’re doing an Irish music show in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, so I’ll be there to cheer her on.

I have brisket on the brain today. Fortunately, Old Southern BBQ is a short drive away.

More snow today, just a few inches. Got a couple of client OM’s back from finish. They look nice. Got a bridge glued on a Horner 12 string. It was a lot of work as it had been super glued to the finish and clean up was tedious. Also a weird bracing pattern so I had to make a custom caul for gluing.

Sounds like a fine idea, Joe! As the wind kicks up, the snow starts falling and the temps drop as predicted, I am snug as a bug in a rug, and happy to have motored up to Old Southern and back before the weather turned nasty. Came home without brisket, though, opting instead for their 'Que for Two package that sounded ideal and ample enough to get me through the weekend. For $30, you get a half BBQ chicken, four meaty pork ribs, a Texas hot link, Jimmie Beans (baked beans with chunks of brisket and hot link floating around), spicy rice, tangy coleslaw and two muffin tops (cornbread delights glazed with a little honey). And just for the helluvit, I asked if they maybe have a veterans' discount, and sure enough, 10% off. So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

If I ever get a spare grand lying around will send it with a few friends to Terry for one of his guitars. They are flat out marvelous.

It's one I won't miss so I'll see you there. Joe, besides airing up tires, getting gas and replacing wiper blades I gave up any guitar-related repair years ago. Nothing is easy anymore. Sorry to hear abouy the pain.
