Let me know before you sell the RS what you might be selling it for. Okey doke. Never mind. I just bought a guitar. Whose neck I'm not in love with, but still...

I've done a little surfing around. It seems there are no Blackbird guitars or ukuleles in any of the listed dealer's shops. The Blackbird response is that my new guitar is 6 months out. And, also in the course of surfing on "ekoa" I find there's another company at the same address that is gearing up to produce large quantities of "ekoa" for use in Architectural and Automotive products such as paneling and car interiors.
So, I'm expecting that expanding the production of this material into other lucrative uses is limiting the production of musical instruments. It seems the material checks off a bunch of eco-friendly boxes, coming from flax as the base material. Even the resins used are not petro-chemical based and don't off-gas and volatile chemicals.
More power to them. I'm not in a big hurry on this (besides my natural impatient nature), so I'll wait it out. It's seems like a very exciting opportunity for them. I wish them luck and success.

Does that one have the fully hollow neck with a little sound port by the headstock? A friend gave me a now discontinued Blackbird Lucky 13 last year which I keep here at work relative humidity be damned. Cool little 13 fret carbon fiber guitar with sort of an old Gibson small body vibe.
I haven't played all that many composite guitars but so far I like the old Composite Acoustic models best. GX is pretty nice IMO.
I assume you've also looked at that McPherson Sable? The the best sounding one in demo vids to my ears. Spendy though.

The cargo still accompanies me on most local vacations, and it’s the guitar that sits on the stand in the living room for casual playing. Most of the time I play the Stonebridge, my tenor, my weissenborn in my music room, but the cargo may be the one that stays with me in the end, just because it’s fun and easy to play, and takes a beating.

Right now the cargo is the traveling camping guitar, but it will probably be the one I drool on in the wheelchair in the nursing home.

... but the cargo may be the one that stays with me in the end... 9 out of 10 ancient Egyptians chose to be entombed with their composite guitars rather than their wood ones, and history has borne out their decisions as wise ones. According to Tony the archeologist, "Every dig tells the same tale, if it was wood, it's dust, if it was a composite, hell, half the time they're still in tune. I know what I'm going to go with, come the time".

I sold my Cargo to Doug at a Missoula truck stop somewhere around 2015. As we all sat around the table visiting it occurred to me there were probably like 6 guns and a switchblade or two present around the table. Needless to say there wasn't much dickering over the price of the guitar. It was a cool guitar just a little too small physically for me. I wonder what happened to it? Hope it's still in his family somewhere.

Not to mention being kicked by Nurse Ratched.

I don’t do funky offset soundholes. I don’t care what anybody says.
I’ve tried a Cargo years ago. And a few CAs and Emeralds. I don’t like the necks. That’s just me. The RainSong comes closest in the artificial material realm to keeping me happy in the ergo realm. (Though the flat neck irks me mildly). I’m hoping this Blackbird will sound a little better and be nicer ero-wise.
But I think it’s very interesting that the Blackbird owners are branching out with new applications for their newly created material.

PS - Yes the Blackbird has a hollow neck with a sound port in the headstock.

PS - Yes the Blackbird has a hollow neck with a sound port in the headstock. I think you'll like that feature. The neck on mine is very resonant and feels good to play. Adds a dimension.

Dennis let me play it for a few hours one Idiotjam to try it out before I bought one, and then it melted in Dennis' fire.
There's a blues song in there somewhere.

Could be. When Doug bought mine it was his second one if I recall correctly.

the Blackbird has a hollow neck with a sound port in the headstock. That sounds eerily like me.

The blackbird people sent me a nice email back after I suggested they were taking a breather while they launched the new applications for the ekoa material. They assured me that they are committed to fine lutherie and that my order is in the que.

FLASH UPDATE
Blackbird has been coy to my monthly request for status. The website said "6 month wait" when I ordered it. It says "9 month wait" now for new orders. And somebody on Acoustic Guitar Forum said 2 years ago, he ordered an ekoa uke and they said it would be a 3 month wait. . . . , but it took 14 months for him to get it. So, I got scared. (They said at the time it was pandemic supply chain issues).
So then I popped over to Reverb.com and found someone in Californ-eye-aye that is selling a used Blackbird Savoy. Pictures look good. Price was sorta stiff (close to new price but it has some "extras"). So I clicked "watch." And within half an hour I received an offer for $100 off. Free shipping. - So I jumped on it. I still have to credit card the deal, but I'm going to do it.
And now I have to whine and try to get my 25% deposit (or a good percentage) back from Blackbird.
