I bought a guitar yesterday. I like it; it's huge. One think I'm not sure of is the width of the neck. It's 1.75", vs. what I'm apparently used to. I don't know if I should try to get used to the extra width or get something with a little slimmer neck. What say you all? I bought an Ibanez. Not a brand known for its acoustic guitars, but they've been aiming at a "new fingerstyle" player. Hence the 1 3/4" width nut, plus THREE pickups. This one's for you, Marshall; an undersaddle, a magnetic and a soundboard tranducer (3 sensors placed under or near the bridge). The only controls are volume for each pickup. It's also a slightly longer scale length, 25.75". I might have a different model sent to me to compare.

I really don’t notice a difference between my 1 3/4 guitars and my 1 11/16 guitars. I go back and forth all the time. Some people tell me they do notice it but it’s only a 1/16th of an inch, which isn’t a lot. I would stick with the 1 3/4. I guess it depends on whether you think 1/16th of an inch is enough to matter.

NICE, JohnB.
I am softening on the 1 3/4 vs 1 11/16 controversy. Truth is every guitar ‘s strings spread out as you go up the neck. So it’s never just one spacing. What I really think the issue is neck profile. Older guitars with the old standard 1 11/16 necks were generally fatter. Newer necks that used 1 3/4 were generally skinnier and Taylor-like.
Whatever works for you. But it’s the profile more than the string spacing that we notice.
PS - The Skysonic has 3 elements; Mag, SBT, & a built in Mic. Each with volume wheels. I usually turn off the Mic, but it’s there. - I really like the concept. I hope your pickup does something similar. It’s a great concept.

I have had an Ibanez AC240 for a number of years. Some kind of African mahogany with a solid top. Only about $300, but a fine guitar that gets respect over at the The Acoustic Guitar Forum. Ibanez is making some good acoustics. It's now been superceded by the AC340 with a thermo aged top. AC340

John, "undersaddle, a magnetic and a soundboard tranducer" sounds like the ideal pickup combination. Congratulations.

I just put a 4-pound corned beef on my Traeger style smoker. We rinsed it, to get some of the salt brine and pickling spices out, and rubbed it with brown sugar. In a couple of hours, I will wrap it in heavy foil, maybe coat it with mustard, add some apple cider, and cook it till internal temp hits 190.

[quote author=" RickW" source="/post/983566/thread" timestamp="1679246362" What won’t be fun is moving the bowllex. They don’t go through doors when they are assembled. Not looking forward to taking it apart and putting it back together again.[/quote] Often the best exercise folks get out of an expensive piece of workout equipment is when they have to move it.

Belated howdy. Today was pretty much consumed by tasks that kept me busy most of the day. Not complaining. They were mostly enjoyable, just time consuming. Hope you all have a good day, or whatever remains of it.

Pinless bridge, okay, and I'm seeing something called "oil impregnated" (??) bone nut and saddle. What is oil impregnated? AKA as unbleached bone. Bone MUST be bleach treated to avoid organic contaminants. So they will soak it in mineral oil after bleaching and call it "unbleached". When I use it I wipe it down with acetone first to remove the surface oil. I will wipe it down again after fitting and shaping. I prefer white bleached. What I have never used and would like to try is Sheep bone. The word is it is very good. I have used Camel bone, it sucks. StewMac carries both bleached and unbleached cow bone. When looking for good prices on bone I ordered what I thought would be cow but turned out to be camel. I learned why it was so cheap, it sucks.
