The NYT headline reads "How Did Hokas Become So Popular?"
My response is "Say, what?"

I’ve never heard of them. But I do kinda like the ones pictured above.

If they are comfortable, I don't care. Drlj, does Barb like them?

These showed up two days ago. They will be my "dress" Hokas. I have four pairs of Hoka Cliftons (general use) and three pairs of hiking Hokas (general use). I rotate shoes, keeps them fresh.

I did order a pair of these, just to see how well the "super cushioned" Hoka copycats are doing. Don't want to miss a trick.

I can't find Hokas or Sauconys that fit just right. I have wide feet. I have a deep love for my new Brooks Glycerin 20s though. You could almost forget you're wearing them until you go for a walk. Like so many of these shoes, they’re a bit colourful. My other ones have lime green stripes.

I have wide feet too. Wide enough that my footprint is almost round. I do a lot of walking, and have a pair of Brooks Beast that I just love.

If they are comfortable, I don't care. Drlj, does Barb like them? She said she likes them, but not as much as she thought she would. She probably will not buy a second pair.

I got some NB shoes because the NYT recommended them. They are not as colorful, but there is neon yellow involved.

Barb feels that, for the money, they should have been a whole lot more comfortable. She doesn’t think they are worth the extra cost. Maybe they are expensive because they are trendy.

Not the cheapest but there are lots of special offers if you shop around. 'Last year's models' tend to be heavily discounted. I got about 40% reduction on the Brooks Ghosts and have seen similar deals on Hokas, (which sadly never fit me quite right).

I am currently wearing them for the little bit of running I do. They've been fine, but I will likely go back to Brooks or Saucony when I need a new pair of running shoes.

Since my left leg declined to grow as long as my right leg (-1 and a half inches) I am shut out of a lot of shoe choices. The soles of many sport shoes don't lend themselves to being built up. I have mostly Reebok Classic Leather with a pair each of New Balance and Skechers. The Hoka shoes don't look like they would work for me.
I have enough dress shoes to last my life probably, considering how rarely I wear them.

I got a pair of SKETCHERS GO TRAIL ALTITUDES for about $70. They are to be my Golf shoes for the up coming season. Water Resistant. I've been walking around in them. Nice bouncy comfy feel to them.

When I had a pair of New Balance tennis shoes, I'd wear them into a high school kids would call them "hey kid get off of my lawn" shoes. Which, I thought, was pretty funny.
