The day is shaping up nicely. Lots of sunshine & the WGN Weathergnome says 80 in a couple of days. Joyous news! People can start to transition from bitching about the cold to bitching about the heat. Enjoy a nice breakfast and 2-3 cups of John Hurt’s favorite coffee.

It looks like three of us started daily threads at the same time. Mine's gone.
Good morning. It's just getting light here. I'm still slogging through some leftover Covid symptoms but that'll pass. Enjoy your day.

On this day:
1953 The bones of Sitting Bull (circa 1831 - 1890) were taken from his original grave at Fort Yates and reburied under tons of cement and a granite shaft near Mobridge, South Dakota.

I can see grass in my front yard! (Well, some.) Sposed to reach the mid-60s today, I bet it has been months since that has happened, and will be nice as I scurry around, to Traitor Joe's, to the car wash, to my barber, and most important, to Zakia Deli to pick up half a dozen braised lamb shanks, gravy and rice pilaf for tomorrow's feast at my sister's place in Cheeseland.

First day of outdoor pickleball for 2023. Some people are playing at 9:30. It'll be in the mid 40s by then. Not ideal. But acceptable. Many more opportunities in the week ahead.

From Britannica online:
Anubis, also called Anpu, ancient Egyptian god of funerary practices and care of the dead, represented by a jackal or the figure of a man with the head of a jackal. In the Early Dynastic period and the Old Kingdom, he enjoyed a preeminent (though not exclusive) position as lord of the dead, but he was later overshadowed by Osiris. His role is reflected in such epithets as “He Who Is upon His Mountain” (i.e., the necropolis), “Lord of the Sacred Land,” “Foremost of the Westerners,” and “He Who Is in the Place of Embalming.”
His particular concern was with the funerary cult and the care of the dead; hence, he was reputed to be the inventor of embalming, an art he first employed on the corpse of Osiris. In his later role as the “conductor of souls,” he was sometimes identified by the Greco-Roman world with the Greek Hermes in the composite deity Hermanubis.

Good morning
35F-63F partly cloudy. Not using reminder timers today. If the cats go out they can stay out.
Saturday shop, that's fine I have plenty to do and finally getting the energy to do it. I forgot to mention Tuesday that on April 4th 2020 I was released from the hospital. I had to use a walker and could not shower without a chair in there. Getting down to my shop was pretty much impossible without help and even if I did there was nothing I could do because my hands would not grip a tool. Now other than heavy lifting I can be in my happy place all alone.

A beautiful Saturday morning.
I had an interesting conversation with an Amazon delivery driver yesterday when he brought me an order. I went out to meet him and he mentioned that he might be at my house for a while because he'd been have trouble with the delivery van not starting.
I told him, if I were him I wouldn't shut it off. He said he has to shut off the engine at every stop. He said Amazon knows how many deliveries are on the van, the route he is to take and how many times he shuts the motor off. If he don't shut the motor off he gets docked, in his pay!
He got the thing started on the second try, and went on his way. I hope he made it back to the sorting facility.
Bike ride planned for this afternoon.

Had my yard mowed yesterday for the first time this year. It was getting high. Some neighbors have mowed three times.
63°F here later today.

Last day that this title is pertinent! This is Kevin's Dumb Ol' Martin 12-string. According to the timeline I use, today (17th Nisan on the Jewish calendar) nearing sunset was the time of Jesus' resurrection. Death on the cross was 14th Nisan prior to sunset...the exact time of Passover when a spotless lamb was eaten with bitter herbs, standing, shoes on the feet. "Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." In summary, Jesus was crucified on our Wednesday and was raised on our Saturday shortly before sunset.

Hazy sunlight, sorta warm afternoon predicted.
End of a granddaughter-intensive week. Spring break combined with kidz working their regular shifts and son & DIL's basement project. Resuming work on the shed and maybe replacing lights in the workshop.
I thought a lot about my Mom this week. Thursday would have been her 100th birthday. She passed on Good Friday in 2015; Eastertide will always bring a touch of sadness, as well as gratitude for her long life.
Marty - glad that you are fully recovered and back to resurrecting guitars.

The worm has finally turned. Mid-40s today, 50s by Monday and warmth will hold the week.
I could see the grass on my lawn, if I dug through two and a half feet of snow. We got a whole lot of melting to do. There were years I would have had the cultivator hitched up and been out in the field at this time. Not this year. This has been a rare one.

I’m amongst the living again. Man was I tired last night. Went to bed at 9, Hawaiian time. Slept until5:30. It’s just getting grey out so you can see. Looks overcast, maybe rain? Buts it’s 69 degrees, heading to low 70s, I’m in t shirt, surf trunks and flip flops, sipping coffee. Life could be worse. Wordle soon, then pool time to see if can still swim, assuming that goes ok there is a little wave at the beach across the street that I’m hope to assault on the surf mat. What’s a surf mat you ask? Google fourth gear flyer. Mike The view from the lanai.

Alone at home, waiting for word from my wife as to the birth of our first grand nugget. Doctors started to induce labor for my D-I-L last night. So birth should be late tonight or tomorrow. I am enjoying my role of watching my son's dog whilst the birthing festivities are underway.
I got my 2 motorcycles unloaded and went for a short ride on each today to recharge the batteries and make certain that they are functioning. It was nice to finally ride again on a mostly rain-drop-free day. I am taking them for an off-road "Poker Run" near Bend, Oregon in a couple of weeks.
