Yep, gotta have avocado. Now the bacon is of concern to me also. My preference is thick-cut and baked in a convectional (thanks jdd2) or regular oven. I like it flat and straight and no smell in the house. Bread must be toasted enough to cut gums. The only problem I have with thick cut bacon for sandwiches is that it tends to be tough to bite through. The result often means the sandwich disintegrates. So I like thin and crispy better. But in general…I’ll eat it in just about any shape. My wife has found places selling bacon chunks, which can be fried up and added to anything, and as we all know…everything is better with bacon. Just not lettuce.

It’s the bacon that counts. All the rest is just filler.

It’s the bacon that counts. All the rest is just filler. You won't regret splurging on the pride of Wittenberg, Wis.:

This guy may want to cut back on his caffeine intake, but the recipe looks good.

Iceberg lettuce is completely empty of anything. It's just filler--that's its whole/only purpose in the world. Filler.
