majorminor: In the subject line, I believe you meant to write all y'all, which in colloquial country English is the plural form. Certainly not here in VA/WV where AF is a pretty recognized abbreviation that will get one kicked off this board for a couple months if actually spelled out. When Sierra Ferrell first came up on this board, it was through a YouTube account called "Western AF." acoustictalk.proboards.com/thread/58357/sierra-ferrell

Ok, the board will grant dispensation in this one instance, what the heck does AF stand for?

Been a loooooong time since I’ve been to Door County. Decades. I think we ate at the Swedish joint. Do they still sell Hummels up dere? I haven't been there for quite a while either but I understand that Johnson's still has goats grazing on it's roof and logan berries are a condiment on their menu. I like her music, but I can't help but ask. Has anyone managed to reel in a big catfish that has managed to escape being landed by other fishermen, and you can tell by the hooks hanging on its mouth? That's what a nose ring reminds me of. A big catfish that has been hooked but gotten away a bunch of times.

Never mind. I looked it up. AF equals Audio Frequency. So the thread title is actually "Country Audio Frequency". Makes sense. Her voice had that piercing high pitched whine to it, and that's a Country Audio Frequency for sure!

Happy to change the thread title if asked. Don't change anything for me. I've become a native speaker.

Casper was asking if he could get a nose ring. No way in hell, I said. You've got that identity chip in your ear, and that's enough. Go lie down!

I tried to play along. Her guitar is tuned about a quarter tone low.

I wasn't referring to the acronym AF, I was referring to the subtle difference between y'all and all y'all. Shannon, could you help me out here? 😃

I don’t like her. She is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
We go to Door County every couple of years. The goats were on the roof a year ago.
Ya’all is what Swedish Southerners say when confused about things. “ Ya’all! Why are the goats bleating?”

Marshall said no such thing. Oh, man, what I would not give for this breakfast today, delivered by a blue-eyed blonde wearing braided pigtails.

I tried to play along. Her guitar is tuned about a quarter tone low. That's a Ray Lamontagne song, actually. I looked up his original version. She does better on it that he. She uses different chords. Just 1, 4, 5. Ray uses 1, 2, 5. Neither is working well for me in my vocal range. PS - She's kinda loose (lazy?) and off-pitch and off-tone on the high notes. She'd get dinged on The Voice for that.

I wasn't referring to the acronym AF, I was referring to the subtle difference between y'all and all y'all. Shannon, could you help me out here? 😃 Well, down in these parts, "y'all" is properly used as a second person plural. We still use "you" for second person singular, despite the portrayals of southern hicks in TV and movies. I would never ask a patient "How are y'all feeling today?" but if a group was touring the clinic for some reason, I might ask "How are y'all doing this morning?" I've never used the combination "all y'all" in my life. Southern dialects can vary, though; sub-standard usages such as "all y'all" may be popular in Mississippi or Arkansas, for all I know.

Fight it off, Peter. Wrong thread. [Ok, the joke here was clear in my head, but a belated concern has risen that the imagined comment I posited Peter biting his tongue not to make was a little too open to interpretations I didn't intend. I thought my intentions to be good, but sometimes they go astray. So I will throw ambiguity aside and simply insert the comment I jokingly imagined Peter biting his tongue not to make.] Biden's latest Cabinet nomination?
