I have no idea what such a guitar would sell for, but noted there was a 48 hour return window with a 3.5% restocking fee. So, if you paid $150,000 for it but didn't like it your trial strums would cost you $5,250. I suppose if you can afford the guitar, the restocking fee wouldn't scare you. I never have, and never will, own a guitar that cost as much as that restocking fee.

I’ve told you before, but I had a gold top 1957 LP with original PAFs that I sold in 1970 for $300 to finance a trip to Florida for Spring Break.
I’m just cryin’

Too bad Col. Paul didn’t see that.
Never had any interest in those, myself.

Well, the Music Emporium sold a 1957 Gold Top Les Paul a year or so ago for $190,000. Gruhn has a 1957 Custom, black finish & 3 pickups, going cheap at $87,500. Elderly has 2 trapeze tailpiece gold tops from the 50s listed in $25,000 range.

If I'd have kept it back then, I'm sure I would have sold it 30 years ago when I became aware of it's collectible value. I saw one for sale on Mandolin Bros pamphlet for $31k and would most likely sold it then. Still a nice chunk of change.

There was a time when they were just old guitars. I knew a guy in the mid 60s who went through Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, Rickenbachers, and even a Guild Duane Eddy in a matter of months. The guitars he bought and sold for a few hundred bucks would be worth $$$$$$$$$$ today. Who knew?
