A post on Djangobooks.com pointed me to David Grisman's e-commerce site, where I succumbed to the temptations of instant click-and-buy gratification. Grisman is offering a substantial swath of his Acoustic Disk catalogue as flac-format downloads and at pretty decent prices. I already have a bunch of the CDs--the Tone Poems sets, of course, and the recordings of his band with Grappelli, and the George Barnes and Oscar Aleman retrospectives, but there are titles I missed, along with archival material.
I couldn't resist Vassar Clements' last recording, and some of Jethro Burns' final sessions, and I may be back for the duos Grisman did with Doc Watson and an album of Peter Ostroushko with concertinist Bertram Levy. And the new title that drew me in the first place--We Love Django, an anthology of Django compositions by various players--is also tempting. Bluegrass lovers will be particularly drawn to a bunch of Tony Rice material. It's a real candy store.
