Just edited a little piece about a new foodie place on St. Paul's Grand Avenue, opened by celebrity chef Justin Sutherland, called Big E and offering high-end egg sandwiches and not much more. I think the cheapest one is $14. The first of these joints opened in Portland, Ore., hence the Tillamook Cheddar. I'm kinda intrigued. www.eatbige.com/menu

Never heard of the place. Looked at the menu. Looks like overpriced, greasy, and too many carbs.

Yeah. I don’t think I would be interested in one of those. I would be sick for a week. If you have one, report back with your findings.

Looked at the link and wondered what "Eat Bige" meant.

Looked at the link and wondered what "Eat Bige" meant. Be glad it wasn't "bilge."

"Inventing" a bunch of burgers by putting combinations of different stuff on them seems to be a going trend these days. For example, Zombie Burger in Des Moines has been doing it for years.

I do that. I make a cheese burger where I use ham slices instead of ground beef, rye bread instead of a bun, mustard instead of catsup/ketchup, but I keep the cheddar cheese. It’s good and seems to be catching on.

No need to gild the lily. A simple fried egg sandwich will do.

Yesterday I went to my old farts lunch and had wonderful sandwich of two fried eggs, two sausage patties, and cheese on toasted marble rye. I'm salivating just remembering it.

I think the pictures on the menu look delicious. Wish I could have the buns available fresh whenever I wanted to put a sammy together.

These sandwiches look like health food compared with what I learned about today while watching the PGA Championship, from Rochester, N.Y.
Rochester's "culinary" claim to fame is the Garbage Plate:
