It depends on the schedule. The autumn is already fairly busy, but I would love to come that is quite possible I can. The second or third weekends are best for me. Here is Todd's original post. I would the usual date, the weekend after Labor Day. That's what Nick, Mercantile proprietor and the Garrison library ladies are expecting. I'll go. Is anyone else interested? I think the date is already fixed for September 8-10. You'll be approved for driving by then. Hope you can make it.

I guess I should start reading more carefully. That’s actually the weekend I was hoping it was. I’d say there’s a good chance I can make it.

I'd come even if it was just for the breakfast and daytime gatherings but finances, time and health do not permit. I will stay home and expect good coverage of all events. Damn, sorry to hear this ... I guess I won't bring any Cheezits this year.

As long as we’re digressing, the song originally had a melody. The lizards turned it into a talking song, because Tom Pittman wanted do the song himself and Tom didn’t sing. The only way he could perform it himself was to make it a talking song, and most people know it as one. like a rap song?

Is it still held at Lowell’s swale? Does Tamarack still camp in the woods?
I know things have changed, but that’s still how I picture it. Iowa shouldn’t be allowed to change.

Tamarack still camps in the woods and subsequently wakes in a peaceful state. The Swale was hit up hard by a Derecho, but the train depot where we have been meeting for years serves us well. The hotel is new, and in Vinton, which is much closer to the activities. I'll make a better post regarding all of this at some point this weekend.

I see Todd posted while was trying to write the post, but I’ll leave it up anyway. Is it still held at Lowell’s swale? Does Tamarack still camp in the woods? I know things have changed, but that’s still how I picture it. Iowa shouldn’t be allowed to change. Most people stay at the Vinton Cobblestone Inn on US-218. Todd usually gives them a heads up to hold some rooms but it doesn’t hurt to book early, it can always be cancelled. If they get someone wanting to book a wedding or something, they’ll take it. We’ve been doing a kind of open mic on Friday nights. Sometimes it’s at the Hitchin Post in Garrison and sometimes at the Mercantile, also in Garrison. The Hitchin post has new management and food is now very nice. We’ve been eating there Friday evening regardless of where the “open mic”/gathering is held. Lowell’s “swale” was obliterated in the derecho of 2011. We’ve been gathering at Vinton’s historic RR station on Saturday. It has indoor accommodations as well as a suitable outdoor space. It’s been a nice place to gather. Saturday night we present a show at the Mercantile in Garrison. Refreshments at intermission are provided by the garrison Library Committee. The Garrison Public Library was also ruined in the 2011 derecho so all ticket sales and donations go the Library Committee. For that, Nick Fisher, owner of the Mercantile, let’s us use his facility for nothing. After the Saturday show, we gather at the Cobblestone to talk, munch, perhaps imbibe, and share some tunes till the last person falls. Sunday breakfast is at the Vinton Family Café on 218 which is really the old 218 Café moved south into better quarters.

Four, in fact. I believe that was the top of Roger Anderson's ball cap just past Dennis's right shoulder.
