The episode with the Stick Men in the cave scared the living daylights outta me. And I never saw him in anything but cowboy garb.

Are you confusing Dilly Dally with Howdy?

Apparently so. Forgive me, I was only six years old when they took him off the air.
But when I was in college, Buffalo Bob came to our campus and gave a talk about the old days.
And I just found this, which I like even more:

I'm the right age to have watched Howdy, and I did. But, for some reason I don't remember Dilly Dally.
I did have a Howdy Doody marionette as a kid.

Flub-a-Dub? Mr. Bluster? Princess Summerfallwinterspring?
We got a TV around 1950, so I got to watch Howdy Doody for most of its run--though by 1960 I'd aged out of its target audience and moved on through the Micky Mouse Club and then to Twilight Zone, Dobie Gillis, girls, and the guitar.

Sadly no Howdy for me. We didn’t get TV in Alliance NE till 1958 and then just one snowy channel you needed a 500’ antenna with a rotor to receive.

I never watched those shows. Don't know when we first got TV, but I grew up with only 2 channels and maybe didn't get the shows. We had a local show called "Happy Herb and Froggy Doo." The frog was the marionette.

The offspring went upstate with friends last night, now happily ensconced in the large 1812 house on Main Street they bought in their weekend town. They will spend the weekend thrift shopping, cooking, browsing antiques, etc. Yikes, does this mean she will miss the Monaco Grand Prix tomorrow, arguably the most prestigious race on the F1 circuit? (Her beloved driver Lewis Hamilton, sadly, crashed in qualifying. He's OK, but will be well in the back when the race starts.) On edit, he's starting fifth, not bad at all.

In my first 60 years of life I probably drank less than a case of beer total. Wine? ...probably less than a bottle total.
Nowadays I buy a case of beer and it lasts me a month or so in hot weather. I admit that I like the calming effect after the frantic 10-14 hour days (in fact, though I know it's not the proper way to quench deep thirst caused by days with little hydration, that calming helps me not frantically over-drink water at the end of the day) , but I probably wouldn't miss it much.
Like most of us, I've been around the bad effects of too much alcohol (a co-worker's wife was arrested this past week as she went off the wagon, got loaded and tried to beat up a police officer), so I respect that.

I have no interest in altering my senses. I would rather retain them.

She asked Mom and me to watch the first hour, which is starting right now, before we need to go out and about today. Her friends do have a TV in their place, but I am not sure they get ESPN.
On edit: just got a text from her; she is watching. And she says Hamilton crashed in practice, not in qualifying. Here he is with one of his bulldogs.

Perhaps that's where she is watching it, too.
