A quick browse, and it seems that on this day in 1215 the magna carta was 'sealed' by king john. * Slow bike ride this morning, rain just now starting. When almost back I noticed this barber in his shop, reading the paper, just a morning scene.

Good-bye Glenda Jackson. Gone at 87. Well known for "Women in Love," 1969. You were a good one.

When almost back I noticed this barber in his shop, reading the paper, just a morning scene. I love that picture, John. I saw the Magna Carta when I was younger, perhaps in the early 80's? Late 70's? The copy I saw was touring the US. It was on display at KU, but I cannot find anything online about a document tour back then. Sad to see Glenda Jackson join the ranks above. I first remember seeing her in the Patricia Neal story on TV. What an 11-year-old was doing watching that biopic, I don't know. She was also the love interest in a highly-underrated movie, "Hopscotch," which starred Walter Matthau opposite her. If you can find it, I recommend it.

Good morning. Zoom breakfast at 8:00, otherwise I'll piddle around being retired.

Good morning. I'm up and drinking coffee, after oversleeping.
I did get my cabin mower put back together yesterday and got everything mowed.
Last evening I went to see the Hartwick Huskys' first ski show of the season. I/we belonged and were active in the club for many years. They moved to a small lake near Manchester when we lost our lake in 2010. The lake is back, but they stayed at their new location.
It's worked out well for them, having won 2 division 2 national Championships there.

After much measuring, re-measuring, and searching on the internet, I finally found a replacement screw for the stripped-head screw on my Ayar baritone guitar project. New screw on the left; 60-year old screw I was trying to match on the right. I only need to replace one of the four. Unfortunately, I had to buy a box of 100 screws to get the one, and no free shipping. So I paid a crapload of money for one freakin' screw. Marty, should I just replace the one and use the remaining three screws as is, or replace all four? Because the action was pretty high in the upper frets, I also grabbed some neck shims from Stewmac in a variety of angles as they would be better than anything I could rig up myself (the shims cover the entire neck pocket and are machined very accurately).

Us all new screws and put a little water or hide glue in the hole first, this will swell the wood a bit. If hide glue is used you are not gluing the screws in just swelling the wood and filling any gaps. Either way let the neck sit for a few hours before doing anything else.

Good morning. 57F-76F partly cloudy and better air quality today meaning DaWife will let the cats go out. Working on a bridge. Last night I started listing some of my gathered parts on Reverb. A Cheat-A Key drop tuner for banjo, tenor guitar or baritone uke. Works on the G and B strings of a banjo, no tools needed, no alteration of the banjo. Works on pegheads up to 2 1/2" wide. Message me I won't list it until this evening, after that it will have to be purchased through Reverb.

Morning! Last night, I dreamt the upcoming chapter of the book I'm reading (Dead Lions, Slough House book 2). Curious as to how close my dream version will be to the actual one. I'll find out this evening. The chapter I dreamt was a doozy!

My 53 year old banjo has the, now vintage, Scruggs-Keith tuners for the B & G strings so no need here. But a friend of of ours has the Cheat-A-Key set and loves them. They work well and are easy to set.

Outlaw Music Festival coming up, in nearby Somerset, Wis. Quite the lineup:
From the Strib: Willie Nelson leads an ever-changing bill of kindred spirits. We’re this annual trek’s kickoff date, featuring the must-see heavenly duo of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Duluth’s spirited bluegrassers Trampled by Turtles, gifted guitar picker Molly Tuttle and Particle Kid, the future folkie also known as Micah Nelson, Willie's son. As for Willie, he just turned 90, but he’s still pickin’ and grinnin’ like the legend he is.

Steve, I hope you are feeling better soon.
I got the second coat of paint on the fence last night and the 4x4s sawed-off to the correct height. The gate/fence is standing but secured only by bailing twine (I am a farm boy at heart). I have not yet located the right type of removable attachments. Maybe a trip to Ace Hardware this weekend will solve the problem.
Some office work today, then off to the coast for a couple days.
