It's bad when Trash Day is the highlight of your week. No, that’s Wednesday. That day I know. It’s the other 6 ....4 that confuse me. Even funnier this way.

There was a slightly older boy who ran off to the right (I suspect he may have been trying to retrieve a runaway dog) and another small girl to the left who had made her way almost back to the yard. The limitations of timing and a lousy phone forced an editing choice. That's good. I was a little afraid I just wasn't seeing the whole picture, so to speak, so it's nice to know what I'm not seeing is just outside the framing. BTW, the editing choice was good.

Daily walk done. Omelets consumed. Made with leftover moo goo gai pan and leftover ham. I have done a load of laundry and ordered a bench for Mr. H to use as a night stand in a small space. For 4 years he has used a folding tray table that I want to put back in the set of 4 on a rack. Soon we'll head out to get groceries and mail a check. (Yes, a check. I'm not comfortable with the website that this particular charity uses.) And that will probably be enough productivity for a day in the life of this old retired person.

Metal work (the roof and cupola) from (I'm guessing) the 1950s. 20th century barn work.

Oh, in guitar-related news, I placed my first ever order with Sweetwater -- Dunlop fingerpicks. In non-guitar-related news, I am striking out at every at bat in trying to replace my favorite shirt -- a navy blue Izod Lacoste pique polo shirt. I'm wearing it here (the day Bill, Marshall, Marty, and Paul all showed up at Mt Mary's). And, yes, I still wear it, only slightly more (and nicely) faded.

I spent the afternoon unfucking our internet connection, which had been dropping down into numbers not seen since the days we used "baud." CenturyLink's DSL has been adequate and reasonably reliable for many years, but whatever was going on in their system resisted all my customer-side troubleshooting efforts and their on-line fixes--and their phone support amounts to long stretches of awful musak-on-hold. When I called our old ISP's tech guy to see whether he'd heard anything about CL problems, he described his home system: a T-Mobile device that feeds the rest of his home network, delivers up to 100 Mbps, and costs $55/month.
So I did a bit of research, went off to the T-Mobile store, and came home with a gadget a bit bigger than a coffee can, which the nice T-Mobile kid had already configured. Pulled the cables from my Netgear router, plugged them into the new box, turned it on, and had 80-100 meg right away. I have a couple weeks to confirm that it's going to be stable, and then I think I'll tell CenturyLink that we'll drop back to our plain old land-line phone service, which we're used to and which doesn't crap out on us on weekends. (Part of me still believes in physical--copper or optical--delivery systems, but apparently CL doesn't share my codgerish attitudes.)
Now maybe we'll use our expanded bandwidth to explore this "streaming" that we keep hearing about.

"Unfucking" is what I did throughout high school.
