because STEERING MATTERS. Some geniuses decided that it would be a good idea to have a NASCAR race in downtown Chicago this weekend -- views differ on that one. Something like 250 manhole covers had to be welded shut, for instance. I may tune in just to see if I can pick out Marshall's face in the crowd. Yes, steering matters No, you will not see my face. (I know that’ll break your heart) I may watch (TV) part of it. I just can’t figure out how these drivers are gonna pull this off without killing somebody. I hope everything goes well enough.

I see now that there are actually two races, one tomorrow and one Sunday, different NASCAR classes.

We're where that 5 is: But it's been raining, so washed a little cleaner than usual.

I was in Suburban Chicago Monday and Tuesday this week. Driving out Wednesday morning I drove out of town listening to some AM local radio station that apparently does noting but prattle on about local news all day. In between the traffic reports, which came up every 15 minutes, came that NASCAR race. What I gathered is that they are not closing down all of the lanes of traffic on roads where the race will take place, just some of the lanes. Which leads me to assume that the rest of the lanes will be open. That seems just nuts.

If you were to drive Chicago expressways with any regularity, you would see the need for traffic reports every 10 minutes-on the 8s-not, every 15 as you mistakenly said. I realize that in Vinton, a traffic report given monthly is probably a lot. Local news in Chicago is national news everywhere else. And as far as the NASCAR race is concerned, the cars have been moved into Grant Park which means tomorrow morning they will be up on blocks, and have no wheels, radios, or any seats.
