I'm still working away at my creative pursuits. They are still keeping me (mostly) sane. I've learned an immense amount about the business of being a creative, and am fortunate I don't have to make a living at it. The number 1 lesson I've learned, is that most creative folks, or at least, those trying to be working creatives and failing, is that they don't realize that when they start to sell their creations -- they've gone into business. Which is a hell of a mindset shift. Doesn't mean that every decision has to be made to maximize profit, but if you're hoping to make money, you do really need to understand the impact of your creative decisions. Anyhow, Rogue God is the first book in a new fantasy series, The Gods of Chaos. Sword and Sorcery/Action and Adventure, a touch of very slow burn romance, and some humor. I do love this cover. If you're interested, on sale for .99 this week. Rogue God on AmazonAnd I wrote and recorded a new song for it as well. Only doing one per book this time, it's a lot of work.

Congratulations, Rick. I also received a notification from my Kindle app yesterday that an author I follow had a new book out.
Who did the cover illustration?

Congratulations, Rick. I also received a notification from my Kindle app yesterday that an author I follow had a new book out. Who did the cover illustration? This is photoshop manipulation, a very popular method making book covers. The dragon, the girl, probably what she’s wearing, are different images brought together in photoshop, that they then use filters on to blend them together and make the whole look cohesive. I’d say that north of 90 percent of all indie books have covers made that way, and probably a lot of trad published genre fiction as well. This one was put together by a company called 100 Covers, who are based in the Ukraine. There are a few of these companies around. Actual illustrations, hand drawn, can run from several hundred to thousands of dollars. Some genres, like Epic Fantasy, that is more the norm, but for now, outside my budget. This one cost me $200 US, a half price deal they had on. That included paperback, hardcover and audio book covers, (no audio books yet, but maybe someday,) and various marketing images. So, normally that would have been $400, still a pretty good deal. The cover artists who did my box set for me, charged me $350, just for that cover.

Very nice, Rick!
I think you did a very nice job with the recording; it sounds really well put together. I know that took a lot of work!

The songs don't get much attention, but I have fun. It's been interesting, after struggling coming up with ideas for songs for most of my life, how having the books and the characters I write about provides a ton of inspiration. Which makes sense.

I can't tell you how much I admire your creativity and your drive. As I said to a friend on my FB feed, I’m afraid to stop. It feels like the glue that’s holding my brain together. Which I mean in a funny way, and also somewhat seriously.
