I'll staying cool by staying indoors. My Zoom social breakfast will be at 8:00. Then there's an errand to run and after that it'll be an indoor day. Mostly I'm working up old photos of cool places. This is one of my favorite creeks for hiking. Someday like Rob I'll be driving again. Have a good day. Wordle 754 3/6 ⬜⬜🟨🟨🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

8 tornadoes touched down around the Chicago area last night, all within minutes of each other, including one by O’Hare Airport. Sounds like there was a lot of damage in some areas. The storms went around us so we escaped any rough stuff. It dark, dreary, overcast, drizzly and funky outside, but the rough stuff seems to have left the area. Stay out of the storm’s path today.

Nothing but hot today. Doesn’t even cool off over night this time of year. All indoor activities today except for some pool time.

Our low was 89 and the high is expected to be 107, so not as bad as Phoenix. It's also a bit humid at 52% with a 65F dew point. All the right conditions for monsoon, but not a drop of rain this season. We'll get our walk done soon. Then a shower and off to my annual checkup with my PCP, which means no food or drink except water until after that. There will be lots of water.

Good morning
61F-85F Looking out the window it's cloudy, matches the weather app.
I'll give everyone a break and not have a major RANT today. Just a errand or two to run and a Lottery ticket to buy. $875,000,000.

Morning.
Another nice cool night. Currently 65 with a high expected to reach near 80, then another evening cool down, which is good as we have another band concert tonight at the Myra Park's gazebo.
Lilies and coneflowers in full bloom.
(the barley looked really good on the farm. So did the beans... but the beans will need a couple more rains. The barley is made.)

Not sure what these are: They sure look like lilies. There are lots of different lily species and varietals, but those sure look like one of them. 98% confidence.

Up, coffee, the tour, and Wordle. Summer days are blending one into the next. Loving it, although we get into the 90s this weekend, today should be a good day.

I'm back from a 20 mile morning bike ride. The wild blackberries are getting ripe, it's been too dry for some, but I picked about 3 big handfuls for a snack this morning on my ride. I didn't eat breakfast before the bike ride so I was hungry when I got home. I tried something new for breakfast, a polish sausage omelet. I cut some PS into smallish pieces, sautéed them, then added the eggs. Turned out pretty good.
May run the lawnmower over the lawn today, mostly to chop off the tops of the weeds.

Youngest son drove over and started doing yard work before I left for the office. Nice!
I am excited to receive delivery of my "Blackstar Fly Mini Amp" today.

Dang it, one of our music critics just emailed me to offer a freebie ticket to join him at tonight's Bela Fleck show at the Dakota Jazz Club, and there's just no way I can do it.

Not sure what these are: They sure look like lilies. There are lots of different lily species and varietals, but those sure look like one of them. 98% confidence. Lillies are probably like apples (and some other things) a family in which there are a whole slew of things smeared/blurred together (blended/mixed such that species, genus, even families don't settle out nicely). Usually lillies are like these: And there are ones here called spider lillies, local name includes reference to the fall equinox, since that's when the flower/bloom appears. They're known for lining/edging some fields, since the bulbs are poisonous, and so foraging creatures, which might destroy crops, tend to stay away. Red, white, and sometimes yellow. But anyway, here's an old shot of the overall place/area where these are, and then a closer view: And, to name what started this off (other than just saying 'lilly'), my wife has an app called 'picture this', which quickly ID'd this with a few common names, along with the latin:
