When comparing mowers, spend some time removing and re-inserting the battery. Easy, difficult? Will it get better or worse with time (hint, it gets worse).
All mowers cut grass well. The grass cutting part of it has been figured out for a hundred years or so. And the battery power business has been figured out as well. They all have plenty of power.
So, instead, make a selection based on ergonomics. And in the ergonomic category, place battery removal. And give it score that counts. The batteries for battery-powered mowers have been getting larger and heavier with every power-improved generation. And some of them demand a pretty good pinch and pull maneuver to remove. And it isn't just a matter of "can" you do the dead, awkward, straight up pull required, but rather, do you want to do it, or have your wife fight with it, every darn time you finish mowing for the next five to ten years.
I was looking at the newest battery available for my Ryobi mower, and I decided the extra run-time, (which I don't come close to needing) wasn't worth the extra weight of removal. The batteries are getting plenty heavy enough, they don't need a sometimes awkward pinch-latch to keep them in place. Give them a little handle on the top instead of that unneeded release catch.

Good advice
I didn’t think of this when I bought EGo stuff, I just lucked out. EGo has a battery ejector built in. Just press the ejector tab and it pops out of its connection and is easy to lift.
I’m very fond of my EGo stuff.

I've got an Ego weedeater and leafblower. I'll say what Dub says, but you make a good point, Paul. I can imagine the situation of which you warn.
Kind of like when Dradtke told the entire Duck Band that everything, meaning instruments, sound system, sleeping bags and portmanteau bar would fit in his camper. Which they did, and it was great. Until when we arrived at the Towner County fair two days later and discovered it had all been loaded while she was taking a nap in the back. I've noticed that she and I are no longer Facebook friends. How about you other band members?

Good tip, several years too late for me. We have a Greenworks tiller, string trimmer, and mower (don't use the mower anymore as I pay to have the lawn mowed). Battery removal can be a little tough on these. I've sometimes had to pry them out with a long flat blade screwdriver.

.... I've noticed that she and I are no longer Facebook friends. How about you other band members? I got dumped after that mishap in Worthington. Someone had to take the bullet for Dave's falling asleep on the party bus and ending up in Cleveland for a week. And it turned out to be me.
