I have been listening to Emily Remler a lot lately. Jazz/blues/bebop guitarist. Quite talented and troubled. She died at 32 of heart attack in 1990. She was on tour in Australia and died just a couple days after this TV show was shot. She didn’t make any of the dates the hosts mentioned.
Some of you probably know of her & some of you probably won’t like her. Maybe I am wrong about that, though. I think she was an interesting player who was gone far too soon.

I think I heard about her in Fretboard Journal? Brilliant player.

A musician friend told me what a brilliant musician she was and that she had a drug problem, which may or may not have brought on her death.

Yes, it was heroin.
Nancy and caught her in a tiny club in BR. It was a special gig played with her former teacher/lover 7-string guitarist Steve Masakowski (fantastic player!). That was special, inspired set, unforgettable.

Her death was officially listed as a heart attack but the drugs, no doubt, played a big part. I read an article about her that said her drug use was legendary.
