Granite City Folk Society, that is. I guess this is only really significant for Minnesota Soundholers, but it's a pretty nice lineup, so far. And we're kicking off with our first free outdoor concert on September 7 (Good Morning Bedlam), which means I might be a bit sleepy driving down to Vinton the next day.

What is FPC? I only recognized six of the acts, but they were all top-shelf.

FPC is First Presbyterian Church, which which (whom?) we started partnering for a series of "First Friday at First" concerts. They have a nice space, a first-rate A/V system, a very good sound guy, and a pretty broad notion of what constitutes community service and engagement. We can again book acts that are too big for Bo's (seating for about 40-45)--we lost our last churchy space when its Unitarian-like "spiritual center" congregation sold their building back to the Lutherans. The FPC bunch are pretty loose for Presbyterians--there are even stained glass windows. (The Presbyterians I grew up with were of the no-booze/no-dancing/no-card-games variety.)

The Presbyterians I know have no problem with booze or dancing as long as it's not in front of each other. That's an impressive lineup. I would expect to see Mayer at a Unitarian Church, great to see him on this list.

Our local Presbyterian church is much closer to the church I grew up in (UCC - "we're like Unitarians with Jesus!" said someone I know) rather than the church Russell seems to be familiar with.

A friend who is a Presbyterian minister told me that wherever you find 4 Presbyterians you will find a fifth.

If you take only one he will drink all your beer. (I grew up Baptist, now Disciples.)
