Fryday.
Dreaming of Southern style dinner.
Have a good day as (those of us who still follow the calendar) we slide into the weekend.

Good morning. Howard, your post reminds me of Guy Clark's song "Texas Cooking." I miss that cuisine at times.
Coffee is being sipped and Wordle has been worked. Our weather is changing in part because of the hurricane near Baja. It's pretty pleasant out. Diane and I will have lunch with our older daughter today. She recently returned from her honeymoon in Colombia and she knows her parents will debrief her sooner or later.
Enjoy your day, folks.

I continue to be drawn to this scene. Almost every day it offers something new. I'm off today. A route is going to open in Warsaw (a regular is resigning). I will soon be a regular should I choose to go that direction.

Good morning, I'm back home from the cabin, sitting inside sipping coffee. No open doors or windows today, because of the smoke from the Canadian fires. I could smell the smoke and feel it in my throat and eyes last night and it hasn't gotten any better.
Gonna go to Cedar Rapids and get some errands done a little later today.
I'll brave the smoke this evening to grill some brat patties.

A pleasant weather day: Our predicted temps are like Marty's.
Youngest son has refreshed our backyard to the extent that it would be pleasant to have dinner there. It might be a steak, chicken, onion, pepper, potato and mushroom kabob barbeque evening.

Lunch today: chili out of a Bauman bowl. Beautiful bowl. That Yellowbird is the best green sauce.

Lunch today: chili out of a Bauman bowl. Love the bowl, love the chili idea, love the cheese, love the green sauce ... but whipped cream just seems wrong.

Well, I'm not sure what combination of sins earned me this latest scourge, but shortly after I got up today 6-ish, hiccups ensued, and they're still going strong as I write, about one every 5 seconds. Worse, I no longer have any of the anti-psychotic pills that bailed me out of the last episode, and the only path to getting more would be a multi-hour wait at an urgent-care.
Not even yogurt from Country View Dairy in Hawkeye, Iowa, provided a cure.
Oh, well, I could always go to a bar and perhaps entertain ladies of a certain age by doing Foster Brooks impressions.
My plan is to lie low, relax, watch mindless TV and hope they go away. None of the home remedies seem to work for me, and bleeve me, I have tried them (except the standing on your head one).

Mr. H and I apparently do not have COVID. Gave ourselves tests today. I had a slight sore throat and some congestion last night, already better this morning. He has had blocked eustachian tubes off and on since Sunday and a lot of postnasal drip. We both got the RSV vaccine on Saturday and thought it might be that. But why did it take 5 days for me to have symptoms? Started thinking that he caught something and gave it to me. Maybe just a cold, but very mild.
We will carry on.

Little did I know, Krampus lives in Iowa. [b Please explain, makes no sense to me. Since you were planning on eating brats made into burgers, I assumed you might be collecting them (or chasing them, or whipping them) as well. www.history.com/news/krampus-christmas-legend-origin

I invite you to Google "brat patties" and learn what they are. They are not something made of misbehaving kids.
