Beautiful sunny day in gentrified Brooklyn, NY.
I hope the Fretboard Summit attendees have had some rest. Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning. Howard, I still have trouble thinking of Brooklyn as gentrified, even though I know it is.
It's nice outside now but it'll be very hot this afternoon. Other than going to church we have nothing planned. Have a good one.

Good day, awaiting the start of the Dutch Grand Prix, with national hero Max Ver Stappen on pole. It will be a long race for people like me who can't stand the color orange.
Gorgeous looking day again here. State Fair numbers should be impressive.
Looking forward to words and photos from the Guitar Summit.

I was playing along with Old Tennessee (Dan Fogelberg and Alexa) and then I went to youtube to watch him play it and decided I wasn't doing it right. Off to the Amazon.

We'll be watching church services on line again. Still not over the respiratory crud, although I did make it through one 5 hour stretch last night without having to get up. A few hot days in the forecast, not that we would be getting out and doing anything. We do continue doing our daily walks, which probably has helped us to not get seriously ill. Both in our 70s, we can't count on a quick recovery.

Good morning

Breakfast and shopping. Also some errands.
Sold two items on Reverb so I need to get those packed and ready to ship tomorrow.

Up. Dinner with the kids tonight at their place. Had fun chatting up the neighbors last night at the annual neighbor hood potluck party. The slow cooker barbeque meatballs we brought were a big hit. We didn’t have any barbeque sauce so I looked up a recipe from the New York Times and followed that. Only I made some mistakes, so I ended up doubling the volume, wasn’t really happy with it, started adding things like dried mustard, worchester, and pepper heads spicy bourbon jelly. The end result was delicious, but I couldn’t make it again to save my life. I call it the secret mistake barbeque sauce.

Renee, the best of my doctors once told me that exercise is a huge factor and can offset many sins. I'm convinced he was right.

I'm convinced he was right. I have a hard time telling my body that. We went to the gym yesterday for the first time in months and I "touched every muscle group". Now this morning it feels like they are all vigorously protesting. Eric and I will meet again today to work on new stuff. I saw the post here recently about the song Sixteen Tons and spent time looking at it. So Eric and I will see if we can do a decent version of it. It would be a good addition to our set list in any event.

Paul Kay, I started the Sixteen Tons thread. I was considering including it in a set I'll play in October. I wondered if anyone remembered it. The answers made it clear that many people remember it but it doesn't seem to have been done to death (like "Hallelujah," say). I can't fingerpick any more but I found an arrangement for strummers that's a four-chord sequence played over and over. Works for me. I'm puzzled as to why it works but it works.

JohnB just left for home. It was a nice weekend. Barb did buttermilk pancakes for breakfast and I sold John a bottle of water for the road—at only cost + 20%! After all, he is a friend. Had a good time yesterday at the Guitar Summit with John & Marshall. We got to play some gorgeous guitars we could never afford. All in all, a good day. I was hobbling toward the end but did ok for 90% of it. Today shall be a day of rest. Enjoy yourselves.

As Todd said, a beautiful day. We're just back from a nice hike on the nature trail, where we were rewarded with some sweet, juicy wild plums.
Nothing else planned until it's time to grill dinner.

We watched "Sing" last night (ok, so I have a bit of lag time). Even if I had ten thousand guesses, I would never have guessed that the rat was voiced by Matthew McConaughey. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2HSbTUL_YAMight watch "Sing 2" tonight.

Made it home I took a 2 1/2 hour detour over to Sweetwater and left about 2 hours of fingerprints without coming home with anything other than some strings and picks.
I had a great weekend, and I'm really glad I got to spend time with John and with LJ and Barb. If I had only gone to one day or the other of the FB Summit, I might have been disappointed. As it was, I had a good time. I will be making suggestions to Jason Verlinde on how to improve the schedule, and like an asshole I will probably share them with him.
