Where the heck did August go? Down the river of time?
I'd like to start the day with one of my favorite versions of the old-timey tune "Big Sciota," by this great trio.
Scioto RiverThe Scioto River is a river in central and southern Ohio more than 231 miles in length. It rises in Hardin County just north of Roundhead, Ohio, flows through Columbus, Ohio, where it collects its largest tributary, the Olentangy River, flows south into Appalachian Ohio, and meets the Ohio River at Portsmouth. —Wikipedia goo.gl/maps/oPaj7ketAwhyWCC76
Man, I just want to stay home and play guitar. Have a good one, everybody.

60 degrees heading up to 69. It feels like fall today but high temperatures will be back over the next few days. Breakfast awaits.

58 degrees here, heading to 80. We'll be heading to the cabin later this morning. I think I'll do a little chert hunting this afternoon and then see if I can still remember how to knapp it. It might be a challenge to work with raw, local stone, I usually cook it. Packing it in silica sand, slowly heating it to 400 degrees, cooking for 24 hrs, hen slowly cooling it. This make it more glass like, and easier to knapp. Hope I don't cut my fingers up, that make guitar playing very painful or impossible.

A few weeks ago we got our lawn cleaned. Today we get the pool cleaned. They came by to drain the pool yesterday. And today they sandblast the tile and power wash the rest. The pool water had been in the pool for over 10 years. So the mineral buildup in the water got to be very high. The water was so bad that when the dogs drip on the artificial grass, it leaves white stains on the grass. It they clean the tile today but didn't change the water, they'd be back again in a couple years. We know because that's what we did 2 years ago.

Maintaining a backyard ice rink is a lot less work than maintaining a pool. Fresh ice every winter. Easy clean up every spring.

Refilling a pool has become an expensive proposition in many localities, Paul K. We intentionally got a house without a pool because we had small children. In hindsight, I'm glad for other reasons.

Overcast and cool, chance of showers. Real rain comes tomorrow, they say. We need it. My tomatoes are still producing, hopefully the rain won’t split them.
Heading over to a newish food truck for dinner tonight. They specialize in lobster rolls. I’ve never had one and neither has Nita, but when she goes on her cruise next month she will get one while in Maine, so we can compare notes.
Hope to squeeze in a bike ride this am.
Last nights guitar practice, 49 Reasons, Me and My Uncle, and Angel From Montgomery. Man that first CSN album was great.

Good morning
58F-79F mostly sunny.
Today's errand, glue. So after the hardware store I'll drop by Morelli's Italian Market to look for a nice steak for dinner tonight. Then shop time and I'll use that glue. Morelli's is right near me and while I don't get there but rarely our Mr. Bill is there every week. They do have a rather good and reasonably priced wine section. Don't bring a credit card, cash or check only.

Band practice tonight and I'm rusty.
Mom and a friend of hers just left Alaska in RV's yesterday and are slow driving the Alcan this week and most of next. So three little old ladies in RV's coming through the Yukon this week - be safe out there! She'll visit for awhile and base at our place while she makes some car trips to see other friends and relatives in Washington, then plans on wintering in Mesa Arizona where we have other family. If that goes well she'll probably buy a house down there and snowbird.
Have a good day all!

"...then plans on wintering in Mesa Arizona where we have other family."
When we were in Alaska we met a lot of people who'd spent time in Arizona. It seems to hold some appeal for people who are going through a long, dark winter.
