Good morning. We'll see 80s-90s all day. With low humidity that's not bad. Yesterday I decided to do a water color with my camera. Enjoy your day. Wordle 815 3/6 🟨🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Good morning. Packed lunch is made, teen's breakfast is on the table. Reunion dinner this evening with friends from my sophomore year of high school (September 1969).
May your Mellotron always be in tune.
Sir Paul demonstrates one.

Don, we must have posted a daily around the same moment. Let's leave 'em both up, let folks decide where they care to post, or post in both!

You could lock both threads. Then we might get a third daily.

Good morning
52F-68F mostly cloudy
Yesterday was a complete wash, we did nothing. Well I did go next door and let Ellie the Great Dane out for a while. Angie was working and asked if I'd take care of Ellie. Ellie is very old but still mobile and she walked out and laid in the sunshine while I sat and we both enjoyed the warmth. DaWife on the other hand did do nothing. She stayed in bed in her house robe watching TV. She is on vacation this week and after the weekends excitement and long drive was going to have a day of nothing.
So today will be breakfast and shopping day, I think, she's not up yet.

A cool, sunny morning here. Coffee going down fast, about time for some food.
I started harvesting grapes yesterday, I can't believe how many there are and how good they look, given the fact that it been so terribly dry this summer. I'll be giving the grapes to my daughter and she will turn them into wine. I have both purple and green grapes this year and I believe this is the first time the greens have really produced.
Music practice this afternoon.

It seems the big controversy has been resolved. It’s morning, it’s sunny, it’s cool, and the coffee is done. Life is good.

We were up early to be ready for the guy to come to replace our atrium skylight, which was damaged by hail weeks ago. He is now a half hour late. Then again, we have a light drizzle and he may not show up at all.
And as I was typing this, he called and told Mr. H that it's off for today. It's also off for tomorrow because things need to dry out. He will call us to reschedule. We are back to not having any idea when this will get done.

It truly is an early fall season. I put my foot down 1/2 on the road and 1/2 off the road this morning, managing to skin my knee and twist my ankle. About a mile and a quarter from home, in the dark, in the rain. Luckily it will be a distant memory in a week or so. But for now I’m really annoyed to be hobbling around the office.

A question for the collective mind. In looking at the McCormick guitar this morning while working on some finger picking, I noticed the 44 cal. Rem Mag casings inlaid at the 12th fret. I am wondering about what the significance of those casings were to Doug Heard?
I am assuming that he owned and shot a 44 Caliber Remington Magnum, but was not sure. They certainly make for a unique inlay.

My understanding, from talking with Tara and Pam, is that Doug's wife Chris carried a .44. Doug carried a .45, and later had Mac McCormick make another guitar with the ends of .45 casings inlaid at the 12th fret. That guitar was lost when Dennis' house burned down.
(I have wondered why, when firearms are mentioned in old-time and country music, it's always a .44)(alliteration perhaps)

Partly cloudy and breezy.
Still dragging after IdiotJam and a day with granddaughters. Clearing skies will allow me to air out and pack up camping equipment, when I would rather be playing music.

Doug was one of a kind. I’m happy I got to meet him at David’s house years ago.
Morning, and my knee is less swollen and hurts less than yesterday, so that’s a win. Off to coffee with the old farts in a bit. Then a quick stop at Traders for some spinach and arugula. After that, a rousing day of sudoku on the iPad. I know, you are jealous of my exciting life.

I was pleased to watch the Packers easily defeat the Bears on Sunday. The new quarterback is going to do just fine it appears. I also seem to think that the Packer probably dodged a bullet when they traded Rogers to the Jets. Rogers went down for the season (torn achilles tendon) after just 4 plays starting for the Jets. In fact, the Jets get to claw back a 2024 draft pick now.

(I have wondered why, when firearms are mentioned in old-time and country music, it's always a .44)(alliteration perhaps) I think the caliber is a variable dictated by poetic requirements. For example, in The Cooncan Game it’s a “forty some odd” that is pulled out. Railroad Bill was going to be shot using a “38 special on a 45 frame.” Doug might have been happy with any of those.
